People get denied entry all the time. The media determines when you care.

so when does this start happening to natural born citizens here? because if he's doing this to people from other countries, what makes you think he wouldn't try to do it to a citizen born here? we're real close to losing freedom of speech it seems to me... just because someone doesn't agree with trump and his policies isn't a reason for denial of entry, neither was the name of the e-sports team though🤷‍♂️

Whose to say it hasn't already begun?

Does anyone actually know who was sent down to the El Salvador prison? They didn't have due process, so we don't know their citizen status or criminal records. It's all based on a 'trust me bro' from a very untrustworthy government.

Well, has it always been US policy to deny entry based on political criticism found on your phone?

I know US immigration can be picky. For the last 25 years it has been much easier to get into Russia, for instance.

Yes, this is the real travesty here. Would you feel better if I told you those Tesla's were part of a violent immigrant gang?

It's always been discretionary of the officer.

ChatGPT said:
Yes, a visiting migrant can potentially be denied entry into the U.S. for criticizing the U.S. government, though it depends on the circumstances. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers have broad discretion to deny entry based on security concerns, including if they believe a traveler poses a threat to public safety or national interests.

While the U.S. values free speech, immigration laws allow for the exclusion of individuals who are deemed to be involved in activities that could be considered subversive, dangerous, or contrary to the national interest. If a traveler has a history of extreme or inflammatory statements, especially if they advocate violence or are affiliated with groups hostile to the U.S., this could increase the risk of being denied entry.

And this is why I brought up moist critical.  He was denied because someone didn't like the way the word moist sounds.

Moist

Moist

It gives people the ick.

Yeah, US customs can refuse anyone for any reason - even if you've already been approved for a visa beforehand. This isn't a new policy, and pretty much every country has a similar policy. The bigger issue, imo, is how you're treated if you get pulled into immigration detention.

That being said, I don't think your reporting on 'denied over moist' is necessarily correct:

Quote:
Even though US immigrations allegedly gave no reason as to why the visas were denied, Moist believes it could be due to the esports organization’s name, which some may find “icky.” He added that he believes they’d never admit this as the reason, however, since it’s so silly. Still, each US immigration representative can make their own individual decision on whether or not someone is allowed into the country, whether people agree with their reason or not.

That's what Moist believes, but it's just him trying to make sense of a shitty situation.

They disbanded their team, changed the name and due to the disbanding he couldn't be on the team and they got in. He's suing though the government is not financially liable by law so the law suit is more to make a point and prove he should have been allowed in with the team with the name moist E sports.

Quote:
MoistCr1TiKaL claimed that this led to Moist Esports dropping its Apex Legends team because the players couldn’t come to the USA under the organisation. The players later applied for ESTA visas individually.

Two out of the three Australians had their applications denied, meaning once again they could not enter the country in which the Major was held.

The players went on to apply for B-1 visas, the process of which included an interview with someone at an embassy in Lisbon. These visas did get approved and the players all arrived in Los Angeles right before the tournament started.

Despite the issues and lack of practice the team, playing under the name Not Moist, were able to finish fourth at the Apex Legends Major.

Even after disbanding the team, two out of the three were still denied. Eventually, they were all approved, and played under the name 'Not Moist'. It really does seem like an oversimplification to say it was just a problem with the word 'moist'.

US customs are horrible - just wearing the wrong type of shirt can get you refused - getting an agent who's having a bad day can get you refused. You don't need to pass off conjecture about the word 'moist' to make this argument.

Back to the scientist, he sure could make us look bad if he released his messages that caused him to be denied entry and make him self look good. I wonder why he hasn't. Geeee I wonder why he hasn't done that yet. Maybe it's because he was in the wrong and embarrassed.

The messages were on his phone. Which means before he was allowed entry into the country they took his phone from him and searched through all of it.
Would you be allowed entry into the country if the government searched through your phone before you were allowed to step foot on American soil?

Which means that anyone who leaves the country and has any criticism of Donald Trump able to be found on their phone will not be allowed entry into the country again.

These are the death rattles of freedom, and you don’t seem to notice.

He might not have access to them anymore, because his professional and personal equipment was confiscated before he was turned around.

Even so, authorities told him they had found messages "that express hatred towards Trump and can be qualified as terrorism." That's some pretty serious wording. I can't think of a single text message that could fit this standard. Privately expressed hatred of Trump is not terrorism - and any attempts to define it as such should be seen as a significant risk to freedom of expression within the USA too.

To put it in terms you'll understand, imagine if Moist was refused entry because his name gave people the ick and could be qualified as terrorism.
