i doubt that a brain melt on either side will make a serious shift in the opinions of anyone.

on one side you have people who like bullies...and dont mind if wealth is transfered from the poor to the rich... and dont mind if we seperate children from their families... and the risk of ending democracy isnt that big of a deal...

on the other hand you have people who dislike all of the above and are willing to vote for a man who probably shouldnt even be running for any position (same can be said of both guys really)... but likely wont do anything particularly upsetting to democracy or foreign policy ...

neither choice is good...and the debate wont change that much. the best anyone can hope for is that biden has a really good day doesnt stutter too much and we can listen to trump make excuses about it for a while.

if biden has a bad day that will be rehashed forever.

regardless people are either about the risks involved with trump... or against it...

i dont think anyone thinks biden is the best america has to offer. some people think trump is the best america has to offer... but those people are sad...and i feel sorry for them.

Biden definitely has more to lose for his brain melting than Trump, and given the recent polls, Trump just has to not have a meltdown. Nobody is gonna change their mind about who to vote for, all that’s gonna change now is turnout. If Biden shuffles out there and starts making shit up like he does every time he’s in front of a mic, or stammers incoherently, a good bit of likely Dem voters simply won’t bother. And it’s a long time before November, but the narrative is quickly becoming “Trump is bad and Biden is old.” Conservatives like that Trump is bad, but liberals don’t like that Biden is old. If this becomes the dominant media narrative surrounding the election, it will seriously hurt Biden’s chances, especially in swing states where polls already show him lagging behind.

well also the kids dont like that biden tried to shut down tiktok...the muslums dont like that biden supports israel and the warhawks dont like that biden DOESNT support israel. so the propaganda machines have been highly effective which gives trump the upper hand.

which isnt whats best for the country. but neither choice is great for the country either way we are kind of fucked.

the best trump outcome, is that trump is satisfied by winning a second term and doesnt go crazy with power and try to stay beyond 4 years.

the best biden outcome is that somehow we elect alot of centrists and get some things acomplished...because biden would play ball with some common sense legislation where trump wont...

but neither of those outcomes is the LIKELY outcome.

i dont think the dems are really better than the reps overall, both corrupt power hungry groups that twist things and lie to please corporate overlords.

the maga group tho is different and right now maga has control of the reps. maga is a different bad animal because the normal reps and normal dems care about the underlying virtues of the constitutional republic. (which is a form of democracy dispite what a lot of maga talkers say) maga on the other hand seems to only care about one celebrity... without that focus they actually have different views/wants/desires... whatever he says or is good for him they believe. they pay his court bills... they follow after him. they arent enough alone but if you add them to the anything republican camp they get real close to half the US by electorial college votes....

without the electorial college they lose no problem. with rank choice we have a centralist government that could actually work and that would bend toward the people instead of the corps.

as is... we may be fucked... because maga wont be good for many people. it will be bad for about 80 percent of the people that vote maga.
