Yes, Donald, let's "tax China." Then when the cost of goods skyrocket people in this country will revolt.
You're pro free trade? Wow, that's kindof surprising.
It doesn't matter whether I am or not, Trump's talking points are the opposite of pragmatism. As "radical" as Bernie's agenda is painted, his is actually feasible. Pissing off China and our own consumers in order to accomplish what? Making a point that you hate the unyielding tide of globalization? Brilliant.
China taxes our imports, but we don't tax theirs. Tariffs are put in place to encourage people to purchase domestically produced products. The free trade agreements have allowed companies to move their factories overseas to produce products at significantly lower labor cost, and import them with no added tax, so they can sell them at high prices as if they were made in America. It forces Americans laborers to compete for low wage jobs with people who will work for $0.50/hour.
Bernie agrees with Trump on this issue. Bernie is also against the TPP. Maybe Trump expressed his trade ideas in a stupid way, or maybe there is something I am missing, I don't know.

Sorry, I was actually talking about Rand Paul. He'd be much better off running as a Third Party candidate. If you're ever going to do it, now's the time. When the economy turns down, people will be looking for a viable alternative to the duopoly we have now. The majority of the Republican party advocates bombing the shit out of people as the preferred solution to any problem and will never vote for a thoughtful person like Rand.
As for Trump, I disagree with you a little. His father did have some success in NY real estate, but Trump eclipsed him long ago in both wealth and fame through his own hard work. Now contrast that with someone like George W. Bush. He failed in his business ventures. I mean, if you can't find oil in TEXAS, something's wrong.

Bingo. They got a club, and he ain't in it. Trump is no Reagan. But you saw a very similar attitude with the media back then. Reagan was the "show business" outsider. A cowboy. Unsophisticated. They absolutely loathed him. Well he ended up being a two term president and very succcessful by most accounts.
As for Paul, he was already savagely attacked right out of the gate by the media and other candidates. I think he would do much better running as a Third Party candidate. Today's Republican party is loaded with warmongers. He will never make it out of there to the general election.
I agree with what you said about Ron Paul, however had he made it through the primaries, he would have been quite successful in the general election, though I doubt anyone could have overthrown Obama, honestly. Ron Paul did, in his extremism ironically enough, have views that both sides of the spectrum could get behind.
It took Reagan 3 campaigns before he won the POTUS seat, and it was one of the biggest mistakes the American people ever made.
Let's face it, Donald Trump isn't some outsider visionary. He's a self aggrandizing pompous asshole. I mean, he sues comedians for making jokes about that thing on his head (Hair? I dunno, you tell me!). He's too soft to be president. I can see him nuking someone for saying his breath stinks! I don't care about his racism, or Ron Paul's for that matter. I do like his trade policy statements, but I doubt he would follow through. Donald Trump is just another belligerent product of privilege in America, just like George W. Bush.

I certainly agree that this election would be a good time to run 3rd party. I really wish that Rand would run 3rd party, and Sanders would run 3rd party. That way we would have a balanced splitting of the Liberal and Conservative votes. If only one side runs 3rd party, say a conservative, he splits the right wing vote, and the Democrats are guaranteed to win.
I do think people are looking for something different, but what the fuck do I know. I am absolutely astounded by Hillary's poll results. When I watch her talk, I literally cringe. She feels, to me, like the most disingenuous of them all.
I don't support Rand on a lot of things, but I can certainly get behind some of his policies. I think he is more of a corporatist than his father.
On a side note, I find it interesting that between Rand Paul and Donald Trump, the Republican party has two candidates who somehow make their real hair look like a toupee.

Yeah, but I think what we have to understand is that by the time you reach 1 trillion, or 10 trillion, or 100 trillion for that matter, the number has become so abstract that it loses it's meaning. The whole world economy is in shambles. I honestly don't think we can seriously approach the idea of paying down our debt. What we need to do now is take care of our own, and wait for this whole thing to bounce back into a realistic perspective via the organic means by which that happens.
I think that's why America is so hell bent on spending so much money on the military. I just heard something about the new budget appropriating 80% of tax revenue toward the military. I think politicians are building up the military so that when our debts are called in, we will simply flip the world the bird, and show them our big stick!

Trump, in my opinion, is only out to steal thunder from other GOP hopefuls to secure Hillary's victory.
Billionaires aren't this stupid. He has absolutely no chance of winning. And if his campaign staff sincerely thought that announcement speech was going to help things, they deserve to be flipping burgers.

Yeah, if he were truly serious, he would have at least prepared a speech. Instead he decided to wing it, and read from his bank statement. What a tool.

If Donald trump gets elected I will loose all faith in America, the shred of the American dream that ive been holding onto will have died.
None of the people running for president in 2016 make me think that this country has a very bright future....
Politics disgusts me, its hard to buy in when you know the game is rigged....but if Donald trump gets elected that's the final nail in the coffin....

Now I'm tempted to root for him since it would piss off so many people if he won. He would turn the white house into a reality show and put a little icon of the capital on his business cards. He would start a chain of comb over salons.

I would probably leave this country if Donald Trump won. I haven't been keeping up with his campaign, but his announcement speech was horrendous and quite idiotic.
The only candidate I'm truly looking forward to is Bernie Sanders. I mean seriously, he is probably one of the only candidates that isn't terrible.

Shit, if I could, I would leave the country. It's not so easy as it sounds. Bernie Sanders is the only candidate who isn't terrible, agreed.

We all like a president who supports the comedians of this country, like George W. Bush, but the last thing we need is a right-wing president to pound the last nail in the coffin. There's too much at stake right now to vote Republican, especially if Donald Trump is the nominee.

Agreed. Hillary would probably be worse than Trump though, I will say that. I honestly think Hillary is worse than a couple Republican candidates, and that's saying a lot, because I am quite liberal.
I'm holding my breath for Bernie. He's still got time.

Its about time someone sent the dirtbags back to their side of the border. BTW, he is not #2 in the polls. The story that he will rename the Washington monument the "trump tower" is just a rumor. He will however sue if he does not win.
When bernie bites the dust the moon bats will be sad but then they will all vote for hill-billy, the tag team of crooked govt. Hand your money to the clinton foundation and get a nice gift from the govt. A law passed or blocked, an ambassadorship, all things are possible.
