You crossed across species? How? Do you have a log written up for it?

I've heard it's possible but doesn't seem common.

Amazing.

No write-up, I’m an educated and experienced noob, but a noob nonetheless. I have no idea what I’m doing and am basically just winging it. I mixed up the pieces of two smashed wedges. The Nat was already showing growth while the x7x+ just looked like clean agar so I was surprised when the plate really took off to see none of the rhyzomorphic expressions I associate with nats. Even when fully colonized in the jar it didn’t throw any spikes.

Right now I either have to assume a cross was made or the x7x+ took over, I think(?) it’s too early to tell but I know they look nothing like the lighter capped nats I’m used to

Two dikaryons won't swap genetic information.
You need, at least, a monokaryon to do a mon-di cross or 2 monokaryons to do a mon-mon cross.

Nats and cubes do cross very easily. But those do not look like a cross to me. Everything about those says cube.
Please update when they open up!

Yeah it was more of a crapshoot than anything, I know crosses have been achieved by mixing colonized spawn in various ways so was really wondering if the trauma of the mail process could induce a similar result

Pic tax:

x7x+ I reckon?

dude trying to traumatize the mushrooms, should be the other way around :muppet:
Too early, if the veil drop reveals gills running down the stem you traumatized them good, but I'm skeptic

Nice cubes! With a few exceptions you can't really determine one variety from the next by sight.
