Nice! Flowers on the way? Do they live outside all year round? I put mine away in a greenhouse for winter.

Thank you man  and yes, I'm awaiting some blooms! They live outside 24/7, although I lost a few of my Florida specimens to the cold last season  I knew better but thought that they could handle the cold.

 Always tempting to see what cacti can take though isn't it

I don't risk my seed grown outside across winter yet, nearly with some , might have to root some pads for experimenting with. It's not so much the cold but the wet roots.
Some can survive winters here, but not the more pretty species

Yeah man, I lost quite a few of my most precious species last winter because of the cold rain, followed by freezing temps:sad:
I figured most all Opuntia were cold hardy, but boy was I wrong.

These that I got now, have survived a few winters, so I know they are good to go though:grin:

Only O. humifusa has survived outside for me here. I got some spineless O. fragilis that I thought were going to be a handy grafting stock to propagate outside, but I guess it was too damp where I had them.

Very nice score indeed!

I have a few too.

These make for some great nopalitos  :yesnod:

They are virtually spineless. And there are no glochids either!

Same genus no doubt. But maybe not the same species. Various species make great eating though/ i dont have the best eye for them but i know when they are delicious and these are delicious. I like the lemony bitter taste they have/

Im trying to propagate the hell outta them to be able to consume them whenevwr i please. Right now i harvest paddles ever other week or so. Which me being mexican is not cool at all. I gotta have my nopalitos.

I see.

You probably should lay off the noplitos until you get them established,  I'd say

. I havent had nopalitos in a good while though.  I been feverishly trying to establish more and more. All over.

This is my main patch. 2 varieties here.

I also got 2 seperate genetics here.

I have 6 seperate set of genetics of opuntia. By far one of my favorites in the cacti world

Miguelitos Nopalitos is the name of my cactus business, and my insta I think. I don't use insta because I don't understand it and I have other social media anyway.

So opuntia are my secret cactus fetish that I don't tell anyone about, I have a few interesting specimen in my collection I'll have to find/ take some pics. My friend went to Florida so we have a native Florida opuntia, we have one from Illinois, Texas, California, and a desert in Colorado. He's got spineless Luther Burbank he feeds his tortoise. @ferrel_human I'm right there with you bro. I don't like stealing food from my pets but man I want to eat some nopalitos 🤤 my girlfriend is Mexican and I'm Salvadoran, we know how to whip up some tasty nopales
