I posted the first pic in this thread some months ago . Since you say that, I'm going to take a better photo to the opuntias of the roofs. Definitely going to do this before march 30

Broke down and bought my first Opuntia today. I just can't stop.
I potted it with Trichocereus grandiflora.
I've had to move my couch to make room for all the cacti I've gotten in the past couple months, and I see no end in sight.

I feel your pain, brother. You've come to the right place, we're here for you and will lead you in the difficult path out of that deadly spiral you got into.
First you need to buy some LED lights, so you can buy more cacti and place them away from the windows. Then we will talk.

It's not unusual for Opuntioids to grow things from the remnants of fruits, but it's usually other flowers/fruits. Austrocylindropuntia subulata will grow chains of these (must remember to take a picture)
I have a pic about that.

Yes, that's what I was talking about. I've been meaning to try to use some Opuntia fruits as grafting stock, but I have some more thinking to do.

Lovely plant!

not exactly. Those things on the roof, are eternit covering made with asbestos (wich is highly carcinogen)
but essentially, a bit of dust and guano from birds are more than enought to grow a forest. Given that amount of opuntia, i believe it's south faced.

This one is cool anyway

Talk about being opportunistic. Thats why i love cacti. Give them rock and they will live just about any where.

My town ( better say village?) is quite small (only 9000 people) mostly rural, at the center of Sicily, pretty calm place. In Italy (and i believe in most of the southern europe) buildings, or even small houses are almost always made by bricks and concrete, I understand that in Usa people use much more wood. Obviously a house costs much more here, and has a much bigger impact, but the pros are that you never see your house floating in the air. we do fear earthquakes thought.

In Sicily they have this big ass volcano, Ferrel. And Lisbon is flattened by a major earthquake every 200 years or so.
