Can't wait to start munching on Opuntia paddles. I tried my drooping pear Opuntia, want nice, lacked flavor, far too slimy. The larger paddles, the ones without thorns but have glochids, those are very nice, like you said, lemony

I usually go for the smaller ones. The bigger ones are way too sappy for my liking.

I doubt this was intentional. But this areole graft was done right.

I'll keep this one updated for sure.

It's not unusual for Opuntioids to grow things from the remnants of fruits, but it's usually other flowers/fruits. Austrocylindropuntia subulata will grow chains of these (must remember to take a picture) and I have a Maihueniopsis mandragora that gave me three subsequent flushes from a first flower (the photo shows the third "generation") in the same season!

This is the first and only opuntia I have ever grown. I assume that is how they always grow. I have a bunch of other various cactus I started at the same time. It's fun watching them grow from seed.

I have a pic about that.

Also, wanted to post this nice Opuntia Galapageia, wich is behaving really nice this grey colour!

Remember how i love that Opuntias grow on the roofs? this one i found in my city is overkilling it.
