The variegate and monstrose form of Opuntia monacantha. A very nice specimen, highly contrasted.

Revival....
So I don't know much about prickly pear, its just one of those situations I found myself in possession randomly of one. I was gifted this last year, and starting this winter it began throwing off flowers, but I don't know if I am supposed to do something in order to get fruits.

After flowering it just goes to these empty little barrel thingys

Is this what I want? Will it do the thing if I just let it sit?

It's Nopalea cochenillifera, and I have no idea if it's self-fertile...

They don't look like they got pollinated.
You could try hand pollinating the next flowers. Maybe there wasn't enough pollinators flying around. I also don't know if they're self-fertile though.

Hmm we have a ton of bees around, so perhaps they're not self fertile

They're hardy cacti so it should be fine to put in the ground now.

What color flowers? I'm actually scoping out some that have pretty pinkish purplish flowers outside a subdivision close by. Thing is overgrown with paddles scattered about.
