Nah, it's not a Cumulopuntia. More likely Opuntia fragilis (there are spineless forms) or O. humifusa, but let it grow some.

looks like Opuntia fragilis, thanks! it's starting to pup now.
since peres is in Opuntioideae I'll ask it here.. have anyone tried planting peres in coco coir? how's it growing?
I'm thinking about switching out peat moss because it's not environmental friendly and makes gnat breed like crazy...

I'm wondering what these things are on my prickly pear? Is it the start of flowers?
If not flower, at what age, or size can you expect flowers on these??

Some Ountia pads too keep an eye over

found this crested young pads in my friend's countryside. Here they removed a big opuntia tree (as you can see from the woody stump) but noetheless, opuntia keeps coming back with no problem at all
the thing is that even if u want to remove a big plant, you should avoid to toss the pads anywhere, because they just root so easily that even a small piece can come back to life
Those cresting pads are rad, and i can't wait to see them well developped. I do not expect them to keep the crested trait for the offspring pads, but it's still nice to have them, (I already called dibs on those).
Bonus young pad.

I'm Happy that they grew. Having 7 of that actually equals to having infinite ones. Once it grow to a certain point it's unkillable and propagates easily
I hope you got both yellow and red fruits kind.

This Opuntia was terribly sun damaged, I wasn't sure it was gonna make it. I'm happy to say that it is now branching out some new growth.

And here is a seedling I started from a fruit of Opuntia humifusa, starting to get some spines and look vaguely cactus like.

Lovely pics y'all!
Here's my contributions.. These are my biggest two.. Most of these branches are just coming from one plant though

Here's my two babies. The larger one I just found in front of someone lawn by their patch. Almost like someone just ripped it up and threw it on the ground so I rescued it and it just rooted the other day! the smaller one I collected from the AZ desert last summer. I just noticed as I was taking this pic.. That I had it in a pot with no freaking drainage hole! you'll be pleased to know that it is now in a better home with some earthworm castings, pumice, green sand and a good all around soil... Its funny because its the oldest and smallest amongst all of my optunas and now I'm seeing why that might be the case. says a lot about how tough they are though ehh? Anyway I'll shut up now enjoy
