I would definitely use Tamps for a party, if anything. The smoothest for sure.

When the pinset is filled in, is the casing responsible for the main water delivery to the mushrooms? Because I recall Asura and others saying that you need the casing always wet. Why is that after the pinset is in, wont they use the sub for water?

Hi Folks! I hope everyone's grows are going well, or if not that you are learning from mistakes and moving toward being an even better pan popper.
I've been having limited success lately and I think one thing I have learned is that I have been using too little grain spawn for my substrate to expect full canopies.
Last night I spawned two largish trays with considerably more grain spawn in them and I hope that when these Nec D and Wild Cost trays start fruiting I'm going to see a pretty dense flush. Fingers crossed.
Here is another lil project. A long while back our mate Zifozonke sent me a print of an unknown pan that he had found along the coast back in his neck of the woods. As far as I know, he still does not have a positive ID so I labeled it "Mystery Coast". I can tell you one thing... it takes FOR EVAH to fruit. I spawned a Wild Coast right at the same time. The Wild Coast flushed three times and went dormant before the "Mystery Coast" even started pinning. The Mystery Coast had colonized the substrate quickly - faster than the Wild Coast. Then it rushed through the casing and almost formed overlay. But then it just sat there. I fiddled with the temperature up and down, I drenched it a time or two. Finally I re-cased it and again waited for a 2+ weeks... this time it slowly colonized the new casing but did not go through it the way it had on the first casing. I almost gave up on it and then I spotted one tiny pin in a corner almost out of view.
So here they are about 6-7 days after showing the first pin. They seem to be very thirsty buggers too. Thank you for the print and the challenge Zifo!
I'm no expert by any stretch (you did not have to point that out Psilo...), but it seems to me they may look a bit more like a a Pan Cambo than a Pan Cyan.
Some better pictures:

tiptrippy said: Jcm, thank you so much for all of your help with this grow. Your fruiting chamber is perfect for a small operation and very noob friendly. Also your jambos were my savior. I had 2 previous attempts with pans cyan var. Hawaii and they both stalled after casing. Your jambos went from casing to pins in less than 4 days.
My grow is in a tiny bedroom closet and the door is kept shut 90% of the time so fresh air flow is minimal but thanks to the FC design it doesn't seem to matter. Love this FC
The culture is a T2 from jambo spore print from jcm. Knocked up 1qt of WBS with agar wedge and spawned to 4qts of pasteurized poo/straw 50/50 mix.
The small tray and 2 of the jars were cased on 2.16 and the large tray and 3rd jar were cased on 2.17
2.20 first pins
2.21
2.22 I'm getting super excited by this pinset
2.23
2.25
303g wet first flush total 24.31g dry
