Remember the red spored Hawaiian print I sent you way back? That was cyans. I had grown that shit out before and the grow after put up out a few with red prints. This was talked about on the board way way back, but it could be a thing that happens under environmental stress.

@Psilo Does it have the typical pan smell?
Well to be honest, I’m still working on that smell recognition. However, I would still venture a yes. To me a fully colonized tray of pans seem to smell slightly sweet and nutty - a bit like almond I guess.
It seems when a Pan tray is very healthy it has kind of a “fresh” smell to it - not at all musty.
For you old hands that have dozens of good Pan grows behind you - what do pans smell like to you? Does that smell vary at all with Pan variety?
I do readily recognize that different cube varieties have different smells - but I could not recognize one in a blind smell test... except possibly KSSS.

Yes I would call it nutty as well and probably like sweetened cream...not easy to describe. I only smelled Pan Cambos so far.

Lots of people say almonds.
Didn’t somebody have I think a Hawaiian pan a few months back that had almost black caps?? It looked awesome I wonder if it was just a one off or repeatable.

I think they smell kinda like almonds too. The smell should be obviously fresh. The first time I ever smelled the stuff I knew it was good. You just know.

I don’t remember that I’ll have to look for it! I know that the mushrooms themselves can take on a reddish hue from stress but it’s always been my experience spore color was genetics

Finally got more pans going. Spawned jambo and necd, hopefully I didn’t let the jams sit too long, they were done for like 8 days and I’ve had some less than stellar results from consolidated spawn before.

Those are sweet slaps! What is forager?
Forager is a little company I’ve been helping out get started. They are looking to produce kits (the horror!!!) that actually work half decent and only contain useful items. I’m doing some field tests for them and helped them develop their substrate and chamber. Their site isn’t live yet but it shouldn’t be too much longer.
That's awesome stuff man!

2nd flush fruits seem to be almost fully matured already and they are dwarves.. I see fuzzy feet and stunted fruits. If these were cubes that would tell me they are over saturated and lacking FAE. Does that still apply to pans?
aawww they are cuutteeee

Why mold attacks spawn which is driyng out and not the spawn which is initially dry?

My guess is because there is still some humidity left in the drying spawn and the mycelium has been weakened from lack of water so mold finds ground to germinate.
