Official Copelandia/Panaeolus Thread * 69
    #22216410 - 09/10/15 11:08 AM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hey, mush cult

I cant help but feel as though the genus Copelandia hasn't been given much spotlight, due to the "difficulty" regarding its cultivation.

They're really not that much harder than cubensis sp despite the lack of appraisal.
So I thought I would do the genus some justice by creating a thread, strictly for and about Copelandia.
The ever so small, yet magically powerful psychoactive mushroom.

I will be posting all of my results, experience, and experimental approaches with the genus.

If you have any of the Copelandia sp in your collection, I encourage you to get them growing and post your results here! Fruits..mycelia..w/e!
It would mean a great deal to me, and more importantly.. the community!

So come on everyone, lets give these little blue mushrooms the acknowledgment, and appreciation they deserve!
________________________________________________________________

First up!!
Panaeolus cambodginiensis var. "Sandose"

Spore print -> agar -> Oats.

Spawned to:

    50% horse manure
    30% powdered straw
    20% CVG

In a 22"L 18"W 12"H tub. (don't know the gallon size)
(I've never used powdered straw before so yeah!!)

Cased with "Jiffy Mix" enriched with vermiculite, PH'd at a value of 8 using lime.

Got fluffy..

Then came the pins.
(If you look closely, you'll see a small green seedling) lol

Day later..

(cloned the big guy in tht cluster)

2 days later..
They have gotten huge over night, almost the size of small cubensis mushrooms. :whoah:

I love the color of the caps. && how bulky they've become. Didn't know they would be all buffed up on creatine
Also, what I find astounding is how they stay moist/hydrated although I haven't misted the casing layer in dayss.
They may be small compared to cubensis but they sure can retain moisture!!! If I treated my cubes as I would Panaeolus, my fruits would be dry and scarce..

Truly finicky, and unique at the same damn time.

3 days (harvest)..

Gawdd I love the smell of these mushrooms, they smell like sweet almonds, or sweet milk IMO
Definitely not musky like cubensis..

Soo to sum things upVVVV

Grain of choice: Oats

Sub:  50% Horse manure, 30% Straw, 20% CVG

Casing: "Jiffy mix"

Light: 39w 6500K CFL (13w each bulb x3)

Temp: 24-25°C

Air circulation: 20" oscillating fan

Humidity/RH: 70-75%  (got down to 50% one night, when I forgot to mist the walls)

Dry weight: 17g dry

Experience:
I still cant believe how far 1G of these guys will take you!
I was full-blown tripping for 7hrs straight!!

The colors and patterns were so different than I am accustomed to!

At one point everything around me was like the ocean!
Waving up, and down, up and down..
I mean wayyy uppp!!!
So I laid and stared at the clouds..which has a mind of its own.LOL
The clouds were morphing into so many shapes and colors, && i swear I saw 2 fire breathing phoenix come towards me.
Then I was trapped in a cyclone. The clouds were spinning around me but I was in the peaceful center.

Remember when I spoke or moved I could see "waves" or "vibration" coming off my body!!

Lol once we got home I looked at myself in the mirror and it was game over,
My dreads turned into snakes and were slithering on my head. I almost had a heart attack/panic attack!!

The trip was far more visual than Cubensis, I dont think Ill ever eat cubensis again unless its of the PE variety.
The body load is like no other!! Almost MDMA likee..

All in all I'd say this was a great run!

I still have a few fruits that I need to harvest, but I'll have the final dry weight posted soon!

You see no benefits in swiping agar? Because it will make it so there's multiple places germinating. It makes it so you don't have everything germinating (contams included) in 1 spot. In fact don't just swipe. I zigzag

:goodfox:

Cool thread Mr. Fox!

In my experience, Pans and Panaeolopsis sp. are also fun and easy to hunt for too.

Here some of my faves in my collection this year.

Here is one dropping her jet black spores on a look-alike Panaeolina foenisecii.

:tongue2:

I'm lucky to be in an area where I can find all sorts of poo locally (chicken, cow, horse, alpaca, even camel). Do you just replace what you would put in in horse manure with chicken? or is there a specific ratio you use?

Did you seriously just type "camel"

How many stomachs do they have anyway?

I'm curious if you've found out what they are?  They remind me of Panaeolus cyanescens.

That's the only shot I got of them. I checked to see if they bruised blue and that's about it, they didn't. Should have taken at least a close up. It's anyone's guess I suppose. I'd say the biggest ones were around 4-7 inches.
