I have been trying a bunch of things, all new to me. I canβt get over how clean and happy the myc looks on rye.
I just cased my first tray of jcm jams today. This is by far the fastest culture Iβve seen. It recovered in tray after 30 hrs. I let it sit an extra 3 days until it was thick like a pillow. I got this tray in a jcm fc that running beautifully at 95rh and 79f. How much do you mist after casing? Should I make it wet like Jakes pic? Or is that too wet for tote?

Pan Cambo. I'll give em another 12hrs before the chop. But will be taking off caps for prints sooner.

The tub above was consolidated longer and cased two days later than my first 4 tubs which is why they overlaid more. All 5 tubs started pinning at the same time as well, so there is not a single upside to casing earlier (too early).

i give a generous misting when i case and place in the fc and thats usually all i have to do. but i do keep mine on the slightly wetter side also but only up til i see knots or pins. i dont drown it but i def keep it on the wet side early onππ

Beautiful! Is your FC really that simple or you got it inside of something else? How does it work?

Thanks.
I'm using just normal mini monos, two different models, one with top and bottom holes and the other type has a vented lid and bottom holes only.
I am doing a run with 12 mini monos at the moment and try slightly different things. Once I got through this I will do a little write up about how I set things up.
But basically what I do is spawn grain to sub, colonize, consolidate, case and put into fruiting. First I let it sit for 24hrs after casing and after that I give it one heavy misting per day for the next couple of days and that's it, maybe one more day if it hasn't knotted up by then, but that will depend on how wet the surface is at that time as well. Will get into more detail once I write it up.

Wow that looks stupid simple! How do you prevent the caps from drying out? Do you mist ocassionally?

Yep. I have only had 2 trays so far and both colonized in about 5 days. They stalled out after casing though so I have yet to actually grow any pan fruits ππ
These jambos I have going right now look like they will be 100% colonized in about 3 days. Stupid fast

Cool man. I spawned some cubes to manure/straw (Cause I had to do some investigative work to find which culture was my Pans lol) at some lowish ratio like 1:5.x and they are kinda stalled, its the 6th day :X
How does your manure smell a few days into colonization? Mine gives off a smell of fish along with grass. It smelled sweet before pasteur lol.
Edit: My bad it was actually close to 1:4 so that makes matters even worse lol. The spawn was a tiny bit bacterial, nothing hugely bad so I am kinda confused which really is the problem, manure or spawn or both.

I use a big bag of store bought cpoo. It has a very earthy soil smell before and after pasteurizing and doesn't really change much through colonizing.

No, I don't mist or water. Once the pin set is in I reduce the the airflow a bit like having a single layer of micropore tape over the holes, or leave a bit of a gap. In my limited experience so far the most important thing is to get it on its way alright meaning sufficient consolidation and proper hydration at the beginning and the rest is mostly watching or doing other things. As I said I am still playing around with this and try to optimize things. Just having some fun here.
But honestly when you go and look at the very beginning of this thread, like the first 50 pages you'll see that peeps have started growing them in monos and SGFC more often than not but these days it seems that everyone thinks they need an automated/controlled setup. Those setups do work a treat for sure and I am gobsmacked in awe by the full canopies they can produce (if you know how to use them) but you don't need an active FC to grow a decent amount of Pans.
It's a bit of a shame that not many people experiment with more low tech methods as it seems that pan cultivation has maneuvered itself into an information bubble and people are getting discouraged to do things differently/traditionally but that is just normal group dynamics I guess.
My plan for the foreseeable future is to find good pan genetics that perform well in mono tubs and trying to stabilize those or at least experiment with it but I only grow for a few month a year so that is going to be my fun long term project.....no more cubes lol.

Yeah my Hpoo is store bought too and it says that it has been heat treated. I actually emailed them to see what that means, I am afraid they sterilize it, if that's so then the bacterial infection in my spawn could have focked things up in there. Is your cpoo composted?

A few of my trays at harvest time. Should have harvested a bit earlier, but I couldn't. Each pic is of a different tray. Around 150g wet from each tray. Over a quarter pound dry from all trays (some not pictured).
