I assume thats the reason. With some species the dry spawn is susceptible to mold. Actually, any mycelium that dries out is susceptible to mold.

Yeah kinda makes sense. I'll probably run a few more tubs without a top layer and see how that goes and will put more effort in making a really even thin and fine grained top layer so I can directly compare.
Have to find some decent genetics first though.

Forager is a little company I’ve been helping out get started. They are looking to produce kits (the horror!!!) that actually work half decent and only contain useful items. I’m doing some field tests for them and helped them develop their substrate and chamber. Their site isn’t live yet but it shouldn’t be too much longer.

That is fuckin awesome, Pasty. As far my knowledge goes, the current market for grow kits is pretty lame. Developing a good one will be a good pay off once it's legality is more widespread I'd imagine. The logo is looking good too

That's awesome stuff man!

2nd flush fruits seem to be almost fully matured already and they are dwarves.. I see fuzzy feet and stunted fruits. If these were cubes that would tell me they are over saturated and lacking FAE. Does that still apply to pans?

All active panaeolus species have a jet black spore print, so the print is pointing towards active pan.
@Psilo Does it have the typical pan smell?

True but RDU and others are mutations and exceptions to the rule. If you ask for an active Pan-ID identifiers will ask if it has a jet black spore print. If you ask for a cube ID people will ask if the print is purple although there are gold or brown spored cube mutations around.

Yeah you are correct and those prints do look like pans. It seems to be that pan cyan are jet black & pan trop are the only pans (I’ve seen) with alt color spore drop the rdu is a trop and the phv is a cross of the rdu and a cyan from hausteca

There is the rare case where cyans will drop red spores as well.

Hoping my BVI will start knotting in a day or two. Got a cask of ale open at the moment so I'm drinking too much beer. But it's a rare occasion so I enjoy it.
