Official Copelandia/Panaeolus Thread * 69

Hey, mush cult

I cant help but feel as though the genus Copelandia hasn't been given much spotlight, due to the "difficulty" regarding its cultivation.

They're really not that much harder than cubensis sp despite the lack of appraisal.
So I thought I would do the genus some justice by creating a thread, strictly for and about Copelandia.
The ever so small, yet magically powerful psychoactive mushroom.

I will be posting all of my results, experience, and experimental approaches with the genus.

If you have any of the Copelandia sp in your collection, I encourage you to get them growing and post your results here! Fruits..mycelia..w/e!
It would mean a great deal to me, and more importantly.. the community!

So come on everyone, lets give these little blue mushrooms the acknowledgment, and appreciation they deserve!
________________________________________________________________

First up!!
Panaeolus cambodginiensis var. "Sandose"

Spore print -> agar -> Oats.

Spawned to:

    50% horse manure
    30% powdered straw
    20% CVG

In a 22"L 18"W 12"H tub. (don't know the gallon size)
(I've never used powdered straw before so yeah!!)

Cased with "Jiffy Mix" enriched with vermiculite, PH'd at a value of 8 using lime.

Got fluffy..

Then came the pins.
(If you look closely, you'll see a small green seedling) lol

Day later..

(cloned the big guy in tht cluster)

2 days later..
They have gotten huge over night, almost the size of small cubensis mushrooms. :whoah:

I love the color of the caps. && how bulky they've become. Didn't know they would be all buffed up on creatine
Also, what I find astounding is how they stay moist/hydrated although I haven't misted the casing layer in dayss.
They may be small compared to cubensis but they sure can retain moisture!!! If I treated my cubes as I would Panaeolus, my fruits would be dry and scarce..

Truly finicky, and unique at the same damn time.

3 days (harvest)..

Gawdd I love the smell of these mushrooms, they smell like sweet almonds, or sweet milk IMO
Definitely not musky like cubensis..

Soo to sum things upVVVV

Grain of choice: Oats

Sub:  50% Horse manure, 30% Straw, 20% CVG

Casing: "Jiffy mix"

Light: 39w 6500K CFL (13w each bulb x3)

Temp: 24-25°C

Air circulation: 20" oscillating fan

Humidity/RH: 70-75%  (got down to 50% one night, when I forgot to mist the walls)

Dry weight: 17g dry

Experience:
I still cant believe how far 1G of these guys will take you!
I was full-blown tripping for 7hrs straight!!

The colors and patterns were so different than I am accustomed to!

At one point everything around me was like the ocean!
Waving up, and down, up and down..
I mean wayyy uppp!!!
So I laid and stared at the clouds..which has a mind of its own.LOL
The clouds were morphing into so many shapes and colors, && i swear I saw 2 fire breathing phoenix come towards me.
Then I was trapped in a cyclone. The clouds were spinning around me but I was in the peaceful center.

Remember when I spoke or moved I could see "waves" or "vibration" coming off my body!!

Lol once we got home I looked at myself in the mirror and it was game over,
My dreads turned into snakes and were slithering on my head. I almost had a heart attack/panic attack!!

The trip was far more visual than Cubensis, I dont think Ill ever eat cubensis again unless its of the PE variety.
The body load is like no other!! Almost MDMA likee..

All in all I'd say this was a great run!

I still have a few fruits that I need to harvest, but I'll have the final dry weight posted soon!

A little picture update to my last post about pin city

These are almost ready for harvest, it's so many of them it will take me couple of hours to harvest these 4 trays.

2 weeks ago I've had first Pan BVI grow in a small plastic container as a test and it went wall to wall canopy. So I made 4 more trays to see if it was just a luck or not.

Well it seems it was not a luck, I guess I have good conditions dialed in or something else, but I've pretty much followed GordoTek 99%. The only difference is - I didn't make my own casing layer soil, I've bought one already premade from an online mushroom store and that one doesn't have any vermiculite in it. That casing layer consists of: "80 % black peat, 20 % white peat, pH: 7-7.5, Moisture uptake to about 60%"

So, I don't know if it's because of the casing layer that I'm getting full canopies or good genetics. But these are pretty small Pans, not bigger than a thumb finger. I won't complain, I know Pans aren't the easiest to grow and I struck gold mine here, but I also wouldn't complain if I get lesser amount of them, but bigger in size.

Heaven and hell

These little bastards are no joke:

Last Friday it was time for my monthly large dose, soI decided to take these texans for a ride. Not knowing what to expect potency wise, I decided not to go all in and settled for 1.5g dry, thinking I would boost with some harmalas if the intensity was not satisfactory. 20 mins in and I was already feeling the first effects, "I have a good feeling about this trip" I thought. Oh boy...

After around 1 hour I decided to lay down to appreciate what was going on behind my eyelids. There is this common vision/trip that I always have when I vape dmt or when I take exotics which is like a sort of basement with white micro tiles, and there are humanoids going back and forth in a sort of corridor. This place is the reason I don't like dmt as it has a strange vibe: it feels dark and claustrophobic. With semperviva, I usually have this vision for a few minutes before the main comeup, but its more colorful and the vibe is playful/euphoric. Well, not this time. The vibe was dark and unpleasant, and instead of the usual 2 or 3 minutes, it kept on going for most of trip. Suddenly, things start getting really dark and evil, the closed eye visuals become crystal clear, but the content was downright traumatic material. Not even cubes have ever been this dark towards me, and I dont dislike dark atmospheres, but this was really not the enjoyable kind. I have had a few challenging trips, and by now I have quite some experience with all kinds of emotions during mind bending trips. Yet, this was one of the first times I ever thought "I would rather not have taken them". Still, I kept my cool and just let it ride, the music felt amazing so I just tried to keep my eyes open to avoid looking at all the gore going on behind my eyelids. But my eyelids felt so heavy, and then heavier, and heavier... Until I could no longer keep them open so I just accepted I had to endure this. I remember thinking this must be shrooms crafted by satan himself :smokerage:

so at some point I got fed up with it and I tried to reason with the mushroom. I was putting a lot of effort in preserving this culture of pans that grow in low tech conditions, have cloned them and was ready to use the cryovial long term storage tek to keep these genetics. So I started telling the mushroom: "you know, I put a lot of love and effort in growing you, if this is how you are going to treat me, this is where your genes end". And for a while, whenever it got too bad, I would remind it of the fate that would come if this kept going on for too long. This actually helped, but it only got from terrible to bad so nothing too exciting.
At some point, I remember being projected into this separate dimension and there were some beings negotiating for which days of the week my consciousness would be replaced by the one I was experiencing then. Seriously fucked up shit. What was crazy was how lucid I was with all the nasty shit that was going on. I kept thinking "it is my responsibility to ensure no one else touches this".

Eventually, all the bad vibes came to an end. I looked at some cacti I have in the room, and a mix of tranquility and awe passed through me as I observed the perfect geometry of the spikes. This was a definitive moment after which the complete vibe and content of the trip changed to the opposite spectrum. Before, it was all suffering and dispair, gore content and nasty feelings. Suddenly, it was all love and beautiful colors, laughter permeated my entire being. It is like the mushroom completed a metamorphosis from beelzebub to a unicorn radiating rainbows.
The rest of trip reminded me in many ways of the characteristics of a semperviva trip: loving/caring vibes, very friendly and fantastic visuals, like god decided to give you a warm bath to your soul.

Sometimes one needs a little shake to regain the respect these powerful beings deserve. A trip is a trip and you don't get to choose what you experience, and that is what makes it so special. Still, even with the amazing aftermath, I am not sure I am interesting in taking these again, at least in larger doses. Semperviva has always treated me like I am its son. Even when I had challenging moments because everything was so alien and so intense, it always felt like I was backed up by the mushroom and it would never let anything bad come to me. With these, I felt straight up bad vibes, it was really like hell and then heaven. The time dilatation with these is unreal, 5 minutes feel like more than an hour. The visuals are crystal clear, and so is how lucid you are. In their defense, the week before I had taken 8g fresh (so like .4 dry) just to get a feel for them. I boosted with a tiny bit of harmalas and it was a very positive and insightful experience so these definitely have their place. But I am not too eager to try a high dose of them again that is for sure.

Edit: I forgot to say and, even if it is clear from the post, I want to reiterate: do NOT take these if you are just starting out with tripping. Head over to the official semperviva or natalensis thread as they are much friendlier

I'm pretty new here, and so I'm partially celebrating my first really successful pan cyan flush. But I think I have something to add to the conversation because I haven't seen many fruiting photos from this variety.

This is my first flush from a TTBVI print I got from GordoTEK. I used his method for growing pans in a Martha tent on a straw/manure/verm sub with a peat/verm/lime casing layer.  I harvested at this point because I was concerned about the caps with spots particularly along one edge of the tray and wanted to grab what I could if that was from a contam that might spread to the other fruits.

The caps are coming the caps are coming!
:awedance:

The caps remind me a bit of those slouchy hats you sometimes see hippie chicks wearing. :ducklol:

Like the one I just found when I googled "slouchy hippie chick hat"
https://www.facebook.com/janethenry60/

On a more serious note. The caps on these are considerably smaller than the ones that Jakeoncid showed in his first grow / introduction to this variety:::

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26827097

Since this is a MS tub and the phenotypes are so consistent, I will definitely pin the difference on an environmental parameter. Specifically I suspect the CO2 levels were too high during the fruit development. I am definitely not providing the ideal environment - I can't set things up exactly as I would like due to my in laws being in my way. Because I was worried about possibly drying them up I erred on the side of having less FAE. If I had the option of effectively pumping in very humid FAE on a cycle, I suspect I would have bigger caps. Of course, Jakeoncid may have provided superior nutrition somehow, but I think the substrate I used was pretty nutritious. It was about 50 % horse manure, 30 % coir 10 % course vermiculite, and 10 % hemp pet bedding - all at field capacity and pasteurized for about 12 hours at 165 F.

Most gorgeous pan cyan TTBVI I’ve produced yet!

And a side by side comparison next to their reject cousins

Also cloned to like literally 15 water plates 😂 and hopefully getting some decent prints on them. hasnt been the easiest doing that with these. Look at how blue the caps get!

If I can get them print good for once, I’ll put them up for a giveaway.
