Yeah there are lots of folks on this particular forum (It used to be P&S) that would likely blame my hope for extraterrestrial saviors to make my mortal soul immortal just a random grab at a straw that intrinsically comes from many humans' inability to cope with their own anxiety of death
I feel they are most definitely in the ballpark of the better argument
I still hope for alien saviors though

I believe our consciousness permanently exists in another dimension where time does not move forward or backward, but in every direction at once, and not at all. In this dimension we have access to an infinite amount of timelines. When we die, I believe that we are reborn on another timeline which could be as complex as a different species on a different planet or as simple as being born at the same starting point as your last life, but then making different decisions.

Metabolism stops when the body dies and you become nothing probably like before you were born.  It's the only logical answer but my own DA and selfishness wants to believe in something more.

I dont know man.. Some NASA scientists recently have been saying that we live in a holographic world and that the physical world around us, including our own physical forms, are an illusion. That opens up so many more possibilities for what exists before and after life.

What about near death experiences? There are so many recorded experiences where people will totally 100% die, ie. their heart stops beating, they stop breathing, their brain ceases to show activity, yet that person is brought back to life and they describe intense experiences. That suggests that our consciousness can continue to exist and experience things even when our body and mind have stopped working.
