Would you say nirvana or "the highest form of meditation" is more of an enlighenment than this:

Enlightenment is the realization of advancement, through advancement there is anti-destruction, through anti-destruction there is peace through peace there is family (everyone looks at everyone as their own pure family, remember family is the strongest bond you have) through family there is connection there is possibilities towards finding a universal meaning and so on, ( if you think the universal meaning is the final piece of the puzzle, you're most likely wrong. Universal meaning is just the beggining (if humanity play their cards right).

And in all these "throughs" we obviously advance more and more - we take over planets and settle down, we basically expand and expand and expand. Use weapons (not amongst us obviously, that was back in the ridiculus days which is now) to take over the universe more and more.

What many people seem to not understand is that humanity needs to advance together and first of all find a universal agreement (which is peace - non violence towards fellow human beings, oh yes, we will fight, when we start expanding and take over the universe. Thats where our real enemies might be. How to  what we need to figure with our intelligence/brain.

One enlightened person can only change the world by spreading his/her enlightenment to fellow human beings.

And honestly, what is the point of being enlightened if you sit by yourself in a corner smiling for 75 years without spreading your knowledge?

There are many super intelligent/smart/aware people out there, but some of them have such high ego's that they dont realize the togetherness (i guess you could then question their actual intelligence) - that they need the "less" "intelligent" human beings together with them. They use their intelligence basically only on themselves, so they live 75 happy years without realizing something like this. These people are not enlightened.

Ps, that link is just some words on what enlightened people spread, not the exact same message obviously but in the same lanes (far more in-depth). They get the whole thing about YOU, MINE, OUR GENES is the answer towards a universal meaning, modified obviously. There are several types of enlightened people, those that do technology, those dealing with numbers, philosophers,

But for them to be truly enlightened they need to spread and share all their knowledge.

One cannot find a universal meaning by him/herself, its that simple.

The enlightened human beings are those that realize togetherness, humanity as ONE -> ADVANCEMENT, the true enlightened spread their enlightenment to fellow human beings whenever - wherever they can. However, they are obviously not idiots that shouts out on a megaphone in public what people should do and not do, enlightened people operate in far more intelligent ways. They spread their enlightenment towards people they know will bring messages forward - the people that gets the messages (or updates if you want) then spread it further. However an enlightened person does not know all and everything, therefor when other people that also are enlightened "receive" messages they build/refine on the messages and so it goes (you can notic it in your daily life the way humanity actually is advancing, if you pay attention you will see it, although in minor ways). Thats how everything works - through togetherness.

I spread and modify towards finding a universal meaning (something my genes hopefully will experience one day and maybe myself and yourself when/if they come that "far" which they will if they play their cards right  - this is my belief idereality).

The only threat would obviously be creatures/enemies with 10x our intelligence, however, i think they would have located us by now if they lived close by, maybe they are 1000 miles away from us coming to get us. Bye bye enlightenment and hopes for humanity! Then again, they could be peaceful and help us towards finding our meaning as this is what we're looking for, maybe some has already found it? Humans on other planets might share usefull info towards the meaning. And god knows what kind of creatures we could be facing, getting abit sci-fi dont really like it nor do i like do i like to dvelve in.

Thinking about things like these are a waste of time IMO, same about any spirituality some of what we human believe in, im not saying there is no God, all im saying is - we're wasting our time looking for God. If religious try to look abit deeper, didnt God want us to expand? I think people should have God in the back of their head all the time and look at him as something we cant understand in the now, its very sad but i dont think that is what God wants if it exists - or any other creater(s). Expandation is what pretty much everyone wants, one of the closest universal agreements there.

Crashing from a day long stimulant binge now (benzos making me write here hehe), so it goes very fast when i write and its not categorized well i would assume, but some of it is understandable.

My definition of an enlightened philosophic human being:

Intelligent open(towards fellowing human beings - passing knowledge) international (starting to realize we're all one and we need each other, whether its starving children in africa, rich kids in scandinavia, fat mc donalds eaters (please dont take any of this offensive, im sure you get the message) human being that is currently looking for advancement(tools) towards finding a universal meaning.

To all the people saying "this world is fucked, its going down", i see more and more of the opposite.

As far as I assume to know...

Like the quote....
I consider myself enlightened and spiritual from birth.
That quote was pretty heavy - I likey
Perception is everything IMO..
I had a VERY close pal who I would say was enlightened...
He was a street cola peddler, supported his mom and all brothers n sisters, good kid.  Not the thug type.
He ate mushies with me once..... And said
"This shit ain't fo niggas". Lol Anyhow point is enlightenment comes in many forms.

My definition that I have found true to me is when we realize
We all are one
We are always in nirvana
Life is a masquerade ball
Enlightenment is not a big deal
Enlightenment is not a permanent state of mind it's a type of awareness that will come and go.

Anyone else want to add on or fix this list in a simple way that does not require lengthy descriptions? No offense to the philosophers they have helped me get this far but, I would like to try to simplify it.

all states of mind come and go,
when referenced in the context of being high, it is certainly a state of mind that is being described.

i do not think of enlightenment as a state of mind, but as a creative reconfiguration of personality that influences all states of mind.

In some states of mind it flowers, in others it is like a rock; it is sensitive to others' pain and joy; and it can be tireless through mundane chores - mostly it is a good friend.

All of it seems natural, and obvious, though for most it is unattainable except in fleeting moments of dream or inebriation.

the metaphor of polishing the mirror is one that comes to mind: it suggests that "yes we are already enlightened", i.e. it is all natural, but it takes ongoing effort to let go of unsuitable sticky reactions.

I think once you get down to it, polishing the mirror is "light" work.

while boredcertified can wrangle his own answers, I would venture that

there is indubitably observing within us, even if there is no observer. (i.e. there is a (self-)reflective event) though this reflection may not be separate from some side effect midst the layers (I see no clear evidence of an observer or soul besides this).

the layers are moments in mind - each regarded as wide gestalts - inclusive of all current senses and remembrances at this moment.

such mental layers in procession form the stream of consciousness - a series of mind moments.

yet, in arising, the energy pattern of each moment brushes through and against the energy pattern of the previous (now fading) moment.

depending on the state of mind, passing moments will seem stacked in layers (fading can get slower or may speed up again). If you are not inebriated or emotional, you may have no appreciation of layers yet you will probably be influenced by a persisting sense of self (resulting from the procession of layers (mind moments))

Although there is no actual OBSERVER or SELF (no soul) other than all of this working together, when it does work together, it has the quality or nature of reflection, and the cinematic persistence of an actor on screen resulting from the series of projected images. I believe that is the essence of the elusive qualia, the occult soul, the enigmatic ego.

redgreenvines,

I am curious how you came across or came up with your ideas on layering moments and "stickiness" in the mind.  I find your posts very interesting.

the ideas are from a lifetime.
but the influences are:
1. buddhist psychology from abhidhamma - in which the idea of mind moments is presented as aggregate of all feeds (senses) with attributes of feelings etc. (I puzzled through this at the same time as I studied science)
2. neurobiology in university - in which it is clear that all feeds go to the cortex which is also 'miraculously' the recording medium for associative memory. (at the same time as I was trying to see some value in abhidhamma)
3. psychedelic literature and forums (later) - in which the term membrane is repeated extensively.
4. personal practice of vipassana - by which I have noted things that have happenned in mind 'as an observer'.
5. personal experience with salvia and lsd - by which I like to watch  the process happening and work with it while it is happening.
