For instance, who do you consider yourself to be, what are you and who are you?
I am all...
I am everything...
I am everyone..

How does one become enlightened? Is there a concrete definition? How do you know if your enlightened and does this feeling last or are they just fleeting moments when your perception is shifted?

I would read the novel Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. It might not 'give' you enlightenment per se but it certainly gives a lot of insight to the journey

So if one feels enlightened, but of course knows he can remember more, than is one enlightened, or is it like chasing the dragon?
Oh ya and the eternal now:thumbup:

One isn't enlightened, for that is only a belief one can give to another to believe. It's seems probable that there is more, there always seems to be more. Truth to build upon truth in the same manner as the original truth was discovered. If there is not more then think again. You have yet to be all, for all is not known, only all that is known.

So one cannot claim enlightenment, However One, may achieve  the feeling of being enlightened to a concept and moving forward, but only others can define one as being Enlightened? is this what you mean or did I get lost?

One can claim enlightenment if they choose, but I personally don't by it and wouldn't suggest another too either.

Enlightenment to me is a continuous expansion. That which looms over the horizon, that which is the tomorrow that never really comes, forever to be tomorrow in an endless journey of expansion. Yet it isn't ever complete as the expansion continues to expand into infinity. Enlightenment for some is a simple state of awareness or awakening in other contexts, but I don't really see the point in claiming a label for oneself which seems contradictory to the initial premise of the original realization.

There wasn't really a you to be enlightened, that was just an idea.

Enlightenment is the realization of advancement, through advancement there is anti-destruction, through anti-destruction there is peace through peace there is family (everyone looks at everyone as their own pure family, remember family is the strongest bond you have) through family there is connection there is possibilities towards finding a universal meaning and so on, ( if you think the universal meaning is the final piece of the puzzle, you're most likely wrong. Universal meaning is just the beggining (if humanity play their cards right).

And in all these "throughs" we obviously advance more and more - we take over planets and settle down, we basically expand and expand and expand. Use weapons (not amongst us obviously, that was back in the ridiculus days which is now) to take over the universe more and more.

What many people seem to not understand is that humanity needs to advance together and first of all find a universal agreement (which is peace - non violence towards fellow human beings, oh yes, we will fight, when we start expanding and take over the universe. Thats where our real enemies might be. How to  what we need to figure with our intelligence/brain.

One enlightened person can only change the world by spreading his/her enlightenment to fellow human beings.

And honestly, what is the point of being enlightened if you sit by yourself in a corner smiling for 75 years without spreading your knowledge?

There are many super intelligent/smart/aware people out there, but some of them have such high ego's that they dont realize the togetherness (i guess you could then question their actual intelligence) - that they need the "less" "intelligent" human beings together with them. They use their intelligence basically only on themselves, so they live 75 happy years without realizing something like this. These people are not enlightened.

Ps, that link is just some words on what enlightened people spread, not the exact same message obviously but in the same lanes (far more in-depth). They get the whole thing about YOU, MINE, OUR GENES is the answer towards a universal meaning, modified obviously. There are several types of enlightened people, those that do technology, those dealing with numbers, philosophers,

But for them to be truly enlightened they need to spread and share all their knowledge.

One cannot find a universal meaning by him/herself, its that simple.

The enlightened human beings are those that realize togetherness, humanity as ONE -> ADVANCEMENT, the true enlightened spread their enlightenment to fellow human beings whenever - wherever they can. However, they are obviously not idiots that shouts out on a megaphone in public what people should do and not do, enlightened people operate in far more intelligent ways. They spread their enlightenment towards people they know will bring messages forward - the people that gets the messages (or updates if you want) then spread it further. However an enlightened person does not know all and everything, therefor when other people that also are enlightened "receive" messages they build/refine on the messages and so it goes (you can notic it in your daily life the way humanity actually is advancing, if you pay attention you will see it, although in minor ways). Thats how everything works - through togetherness.

I spread and modify towards finding a universal meaning (something my genes hopefully will experience one day and maybe myself and yourself when/if they come that "far" which they will if they play their cards right  - this is my belief idereality).

The only threat would obviously be creatures/enemies with 10x our intelligence, however, i think they would have located us by now if they lived close by, maybe they are 1000 miles away from us coming to get us. Bye bye enlightenment and hopes for humanity! Then again, they could be peaceful and help us towards finding our meaning as this is what we're looking for, maybe some has already found it? Humans on other planets might share usefull info towards the meaning. And god knows what kind of creatures we could be facing, getting abit sci-fi dont really like it nor do i like do i like to dvelve in.

Thinking about things like these are a waste of time IMO, same about any spirituality some of what we human believe in, im not saying there is no God, all im saying is - we're wasting our time looking for God. If religious try to look abit deeper, didnt God want us to expand? I think people should have God in the back of their head all the time and look at him as something we cant understand in the now, its very sad but i dont think that is what God wants if it exists - or any other creater(s). Expandation is what pretty much everyone wants, one of the closest universal agreements there.

Crashing from a day long stimulant binge now (benzos making me write here hehe), so it goes very fast when i write and its not categorized well i would assume, but some of it is understandable.

My definition of an enlightened philosophic human being:

Intelligent open(towards fellowing human beings - passing knowledge) international (starting to realize we're all one and we need each other, whether its starving children in africa, rich kids in scandinavia, fat mc donalds eaters (please dont take any of this offensive, im sure you get the message) human being that is currently looking for advancement(tools) towards finding a universal meaning.

To all the people saying "this world is fucked, its going down", i see more and more of the opposite.

I like that peeling back the layers metaphor, and Orgone's response "what layers" - is smart - we should not be glib about this.

seeing the layers is part of it, and being able to move through it with a light touch is also part of it, in my opinion.

What Layers?
============  there are three distinct layers I can think of that relate to this topic.

1. the deeply entrenched layers of habit and memory shadows which can cloud the moment (a.k.a. emotional baggage)
2. the distraction of fleeting ideas that can emerge at any moment and make you miss what is going on (a.k.a. tripping out)
3. bad philosophy which becomes a masking layer or ignorance over everything (a.k.a. intellectual baggage)

political enlightenment is a super-class of 1&3 and it uses 1&2 to influence others, so to be politically enlightened is the hardest of all, you have to be clear in your self, and need a good perspective on interpersonal dynamics as well as family dynamics.

In my opinion, you must not give up seeking enlightenment even in the face of cynicism - any of the 3 types of clouding layers can be individually lampooned to demoralize you, but you still must make the effort for your self.

Lastly, spiritual enlightenment - while usually a mess of #3 (philosophical clouding) can be a useful exploration since it can temporarily counter the rigidity of closed minds protecting tremendous emotional baggage, but the seeker has to be wary of #2 (tripping out) side tracks into meaningless bogs of residual politics (ancient religions are full of it) - use this "spiritual" stuff only to help get at the clouds of personal emotional clouding layers #1.

If #1 (emotional baggage) is not addressed the enlightenment is very superficial.
If #2 (tripping out) is not understood, it is all for nothing.
with #3 (philosophical alignment) you have to work hard, and be prepared to drop what seemed right in the past (for what is clearly more realistic when reversed,) since our knowledge is always removing layers of ignorance.
