Yelling is obnoxious. I prefer Buddhists over Christians because they have much better manners.

Truth can't be approached through any belief system, religious, political, social, educational... how can you possibly find out with is really true in anything if you are looking at it through a belief in your mind?

Without the concept of the existence of the soul, there's no point in Christianity. My question is, when does this soul attach itself to a human? Is it at conception, some time during pregnancy, at birth, or what? And why is it at this time?

Also, providing you believe in evolution (I hope you do), at what point along the evolutionary timeline did the first ensouled human occur?

If we don't call it a soul, would you accept that humans have some kind of consciousness apart from the physical body? Or do you suspect that consciousness is completely produced by the physical body through the brain?

Would you think it is possible that consciousness is actually recieved by our bodies, through our evolutionary history, through our changing genes, through our DNA; that our brains are the products of billions of years of evolution, refined to recieve this special new consciousness?

Maybe evolution has been opening a doorway for consciousness to pour out of its source into the physical world, as we are now facilitating. Maybe our entire history has been a struggle to pry open this doorway. What began with simple pictures on cave walls has now evolved into a computer screen, a window into a three dimensional world of our own making.

I think you would be smoking too much pot if you thought that.

Hard to agree with that. I have subdued much of my appitites to the point where even when I am tempted I do not feel urgings as I used to, and certainly HATE many of the things I used to enjoy. I do my best to feed my Spirit only good things. I get very little fleshly enjoyment from Christianity, but again I think I may be trying a slightly different version than a lot of folks have seem drawn to throughout time. My heart and soul sure feel GREAT though!!

No disrepect intended as I respect your worldview as much as I do mine. Just thout I'd throw my last $.02 out and make it an even dollar worth of thoughts on this subject for the day.

Peace

Your post was hard to understand. I'm a hater? And I acknowledged that you do feel that way, and I respect that. Truly. I don't see how any man can judge another, and I believe that they in fact cannot. So I don't even try. Besides, who cares? All I hope for out of ANYONE is that they learn to love themselves and others in a true manner. For some reason, most of mainstream Christianity got this wrong somewhere.

Sorry if I offended you or came off hating. Not my gig.

Love conquers all.

Peace

You do realize that most of mainstream Christianity says the same thing about you. And they're just as credible.

You think you know the True way. Christians think they know the True way.

From where I sit, you both look alike.

I think almost every religion allows its believers/followers to not take responsibility for their actions concerning the planet and its inhabitants because in the end everything will be juuuuuuuust fine

I am gonna say it LOUD and PROUD... I am a Christian....

I "sin" and I do it everyday. I will sin everyday of my life.

I believe in "Christ" and his teachings.

So you believe in the teachings, love Christ and yet do things against God. This makes no sense to me.

If I believe in something, I live it, not merely mouth it.

Anyone without sin can be the first to cast a stone...

Anyone who lives without sin does not need the blood of Christ to wash their sins clean.

If you do not need Christ then you are not a "Christian".

I think the point I was trying to convey is that we are all sinners and nothing we can ever do will change that.

So recognition of the errors of one's ways and subsequent change is impossible is your message? That is sad.

Jesus clearly states, "By their fruits you shall know them," there is no mention of fish symbols on cars, or wearing crucifixes nor public declarations of 'Hey, I am boring again!"

BY THEIR ACTS, darling - nothing else.

Please dont "one line quote the Gospel"
That is a weak tactic.

Change is not impossible, but it is also not instant.

Sin is impossible to escape...

Some people dont even realize when they sin.

Well from what I know the term sin is quite different from the term mistake.
A mistake means not making the best decision regarding a certain aspect of life, and which is cause by an error in thinking.
A sin refers to moral values.

Christianity only exists in its current form because it happened to strike a chord with more people than the plethora of other messiah based religions of the region and the time. Christianity is almost even an accumulation of all of these different faiths and followings of these desperate people hoping for a clestial savior.

Watered down experience is no substitute for the real thing. Maybe you should increase your dosage next time and check out heaven yourself!

Sin is impossible to escape...

I think that's part of his point.

God the asshole saddles us with sin, makes us so that we can never be sin-free, then demands that we not sin.

WTF kind of sadistic shit is that?

Yes, that would really clarify things.  Especially if you quote both the Old Testament AND the New Testament.  There are absolutely no contradictions & no room for interpretation within those ancient records of the WORD OF GOD.
