I think these are usually done in fasting conditions, but I think the fasting would be much easier without obligations or external cues for "meal time".

9 days?  3 weeks sounds better

I took part in a vision quest earlier this spring with a group of Natives. Two full days of intense sweats in the sweat lodge and feasting, then four days isolated no food and no water.

By the third day, the general feel of my reality was shifted to what I can compare to a mild mushroom trip, simply everything was dreamy and all senses seemed to be much more present yet distant. (Impossible to explain, but I am sure most of you know what I am talking about with your own experiences).

The thirst was clearly more present then the hunger, but as long as I kept feeding myself with slow deep breathing and staying in a state of presence or meditation, I was alright. When it was all done with, I can say that I have never felt so refreshed, cleansed and light. Give it a shot.. thats all I can say and go from there.

However take time away from what you normally do. Go camp out or whatever it takes to get 3 or 4 days off alone to do this. You will not make it if you are fasting and still going about your normal daily business.

I would however recommend more then 2 days... 3 days minimum and try for 4. Everything does 'change' after the second night, that is when you enter the 'spirit world'.. according to the Elders I was with.

I think it would be better if you did research on the side effects of fasting other than a juice fast. Otherwise you are more likely to connect to a doctor, not god.

Well I guess I'm going to have to just find out for myself! I'm going to do a juice fast first as I tend to overdo things and going from food all my life to water fast is a bad call I think.

It doesn't really matter. I would recommend juice in the morning and water at night if you want juice, because getting all that sugar on your palate might make you crave food.

Well the way I see it is that I'm just trying to halt digestion. Juices will contain sugars which will keep my body nourished to a minimal degree (I work in a lab so it's cool) without having to resort to ketosis. Then the healing can begin.

Who knows..I'm drinking a glass of V8 right now and it's kind of intense. This might be harder than I thought.

i am going to fast on juice and water today.

"To a healthy clean body, fasting comes as natural as eating. During water or juice fasting, the protein levels of the blood remain constant. Although protein is being used, a person fasting 40 days on water will not suffer a deficiency of protein, vitamins, minerals or fatty acids. In the breakdown of dying and diseased cells, all essential substances are available while fasting for reuse within the body. These are utilized and conserved in a most extraordinary manner. "

is this true?

do you guys think a blender will be good enough to create fruit juice with?

A blender will make intensely pulpy juice, yeah? I'd probably get a juicer.

And that's the point I was thinking of, right here
"In the breakdown of dying and diseased cells, all essential substances are available while fasting for reuse within the body. These are utilized and conserved in a most extraordinary manner."

I'm no longer growing (22) so my body doesn't need as much food as it once did. I'm not putting on mass, I don't work out. My body can maintain very well with minimal nutrition. I know this for a fact because my roommate eats almost never and doesn't gain a pound. He doesn't do shit and he eats very very little. It's a good balance for him. He's a picky eater though so he's had 22 years to get used to not eating much. I love food so this might be a little harder.

yeah i don't think i am supposed to have pulpy juice or something
but i made it anyway so i don't know.

i think it makes the body digest too much
but then again there are fruit fasts as well as fruit juice fasts
and fruit fasts are supposed to be very good also
perhaps pulpy juice is a compromise
i feel high or something. and emotionlessly intolerant [which just means i would much prefer not being ] of the presence of people who don't want to fast and do yoga and meditate all day
which is not proper of me.

i would hope that before liberation and sadhana brings siddhis that it brings me peace and tolerance cuz i don't want to be all
like YOU AREN'T HIGH YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY DO YOU WATCH TV
lol
i mean it doesn't bother me per se but it throws off my rhtyhmn of solitary ness

hyperventhilation brings about spiritual experiences for me (i mean intense visual ones where i get transported to another dimension or i guess its more like im seeing through the holes of our dimension into the one which meshes with ours but is normally too thin or moving too fast/slow for us to percieve)

what causes these experiences is simply change

drugs can cause it
breathing can cause it
starvation can cause it
pain or pleasure or crying or laughing can cause it

its all in how you find it, and remember it may not be as important what you find as how you get there

they always have said that its not the destination but the journey that counts, and i think thats true with a spiritual experience because in the end (well this part of the journey anyway) where you are able to communicate the experience it the beginning and the end are the same...

your head.. sittin there on your couch on top of your body next to your roomate or your dog or your tv...

i particurlarly like the laughing because it draws less attention than the other things since it is deemed pleasurable by most people they wont bastardize you for laughing intensely as long as its not like incredibly ill timed (like at a funeral although i am kinda messed up and it is funny to me when someone dies if you want to know why you can ask but its kinda complex and i dont feel like getin into it in the middle of this forum)

also the big one i would look into for you or for anyone really is lucid dreaming i mean you can have all the spiritual experiences you want with all the philosophical relations to life or the most beautiful visual spectacles describable or indescribable it doesnt really even compare to complete and utter freedom where you can have that same thing occur times infinity and then some and then some and then only get bored cus you wake up... besides the twilight is like a library of secrets for both the dream world and the real world i would rather spend my time there than on a spiritual hallucination (which trust me i have had plenty of and i am not downplaying they are fascinating and awe inspiring)

anyway sry taht was long winded good luck on your quest my friend

-love

I've tried to hyperventilate myself into a high state and it only worked so-so. I feel like my breathing muscles just shut down after a certain point like the way chest muscles will after doing so many push ups.

Yeah there are lots of ways to reach God but I don't know if any of them besides psychedelics are really a good "fit" for me, you know? Everybody is unique and perhaps different routes work well for different people. My life has always been centered pretty heavily around food so this approach makes sense for countless reasons. Time to let go of food for a bit (even though I think about juice a lot now, lol) and see what my body can really do.

Who knows..that's why I'm trying it and not just thinking about it anymore. My juicer just got here in the mail so I'm going to head to the store and pick up some carrots, cucumbers, celery, beets?, and I don't know what else.

Yeah there are lots of ways to reach God

I'd like to challenge this statement and ask for proof that there are ways to reach God and that there even is a God. Otherwise that statement seems like pure speculation. Just like all the other non-sense that humans like to pretend to know.

"Mysticism (from the Greek μυστικός (mystikos) "an initiate" (of the Eleusinian Mysteries, μυστήρια (mysteria) meaning "initiation"[1])) is the pursuit of achieving communion or identity with, or conscious awareness of, ultimate reality, the divine, spiritual truth, or God through direct experience, intuition, or insight."
