nice, i went hunting today and found a few friscosas. also put down some chips where there is mycelia running short of wood.work in progress to restore a once flourishing patch. i did find some chanterelles in the hills. about 2-3 pounds:

indeed. a found a tone of those today. im really pissed i diddnt bring my camera. oh well i got a cool pic of a baby aminita as my cell back round now

auweia, i was checking mill valley today and i found a huge ass patch of those look galarinas. they where waving exactly like the guys in your avatar. i saw them from my car and was likr YES! but as soon as i got close and could see the gills i just left

Oh yes indeed, I saw alot of those today myself. little brown mushies that look almost exactly like cyans..more delicate tho, they break apart on your fingers easily..I think Curecat's got a name for those..tuberia maybe?

I still get fooled by those from a distance..OMG, a huge patch and then you get closer and closer it's a big letdown..I go through that soap opera 20 times a day sometimes

they're all over the place right now..they come up a little faster than cyans do...but it's a good sign so far

Hahahaha, i like the "soap opera" referrence.  Only a mushroom hunter could understand....
The first large patch i found looked much like that one, and I nearly pissed myself with excitement.... and then was like "FUCK!"

They're Tubaria furfuracea.

I saw that news article awhile back about ihaveacow..somebody else posted that Weilii.com was being sold too

what a shame, and a relatively new species too. Implicating the shroomery.org while getting popped does nobody any good, because all this is is an information site, and the OPs go out of their way to keep it that way.

There never was any harm in documenting what occurs naturally in the wild, in your local parks, whatever..It's not like anybody here has control over that...It's going to happen anyway, whether the authorities like it or not.

In fact, the authorities themselves may be unwittingly involved in spreading it if they confiscate wild mushrooms and carry them around for any length of time....

the ultimate irony I suppose...Stamets has a lovely story about that from the 70's...it's worth repeating sometime

well said, i really just freaked out. im 22 and never got caught with drugs im not even a dealer or drug junkie.

never the less, i moved into my first house and found them in my backyard, literally, so it should be safer this season.

maybe i should create a new login name.

also, of note. here is an example of friscosas/fibs and cyans growing in the same patch today.... I have seen this many times. this particular spot is maybe a 50 meter square, interspersed with either cyans or friscosas...basically. it's the same patch...Sometimes the shape sort of melts into one another..as far as I'm concerned, they're all cyanescens, except here in San Francisco, sometimes they change their shape.

we have to call it something else only because many times they have their own spots now, and look so different...like this, my portrait photo of the day..this is my favorite photo

they can indeed look beautiful sometimes...rather scruffy at other times

and finally...The human powered spore dispersal unit. Model # xs-007

It does not matter. I'm 20, and am scared to death of getting in trouble. I would not snitch on ANYONE if i was in deep shit. There is good reason to suspect you untrustworthy.

That is hot Auweia.

I'm surprised you use plastic. I prefer paper bags covered in plastic bags.

plastic is ok for a few hours..it's pretty loose anyway, so there's circulation...the important thing is to get them dried overnight..

besides, I ride around and sort of dry them out on the go anyway

Auweia, you should print some of those beauties and send them to the free spore rings, i'm sure they would be very appreciative.

ah..I almost forgot....the size comparison...nothing special yet, but here's one example

in the middle a normal cyanescens...this should show you folks, how difficult this is..This is all cyanescens, but most people say WTF?

just like we do..It matches cyanescens under a microscope, they grow in the same patches many times, yet they sometimes remove themselves from normal cyanescens...again, wtf?

it's an enigma...we don't know what the fuck is going on here...macroscopic tells us one thing, microscopic tells us another.

nevertheless, for us hunters that KNOW, there is no problem
