Last corner of one of my first two jars is just about there. I'm excited to do first bulk but it's also such an anxious time waiting for it to be ready.

I think my grains were too wet. At first I was afraid I'd completely flubbed my SAB procedures and let some bacterial current infect most of the batch because there's all that gummy-looking moisture but when I was moving the left jar to put the last corner in view I saw it flow like plain water so maybe the mycelium just squeezed some out and doesn't want it?

That looks like a tough call. I'd call that about as colonized as it's going to get. If after another 3 days it hasn't consumed the grains entirely in that last spot I would consider it finished at that point. It's possible that the grain was too wet as you described which could lead to that appearance. Either way it looks totally fine to me and if after 3 days it still looks the same I'd feel totally comfortable moving forward with spawning it to bulk. Good job and good luck!

Thanks for giving it a look and sharing wisdom. Makes me feel better about their health and the hope of sending both to bulk tomorrow. The right jar was ready for bulk yesterday probably. The left jar's little divot at (formerly bottom) top corner is the last spot and the way it's been moving I was wondering if it would advance over that last cluster today. It's been moving steadily but slowly. I got excited to have anything to start so this is all from purchased LC. Skimped on the LC, and these have been painfully slow for the last 10%. I'm looking forward to doing the agar work for future batches to get larger volumes of innoculant.

Those look like they’ve been finished for a few days at least. Definitely a little sketchy looking but you should get something out of it.

When grains are cooked against the glass or bacterial they’ll have bare spots like that.

In the past after my jars are fully colonized I've seen water droplets ontop of the myc.  Sometimes its perfectly clear and other times it's pale yellow.  I think it's normal.

You know I've seen this gif so many times over the years and I've always wondered "what can he possibly be doing that makes it appear he is jerking off like that?"

I finally discovered the reason. It was a ceremony where he and a hundred other people were holding a giant American flag and they were shaking it to simulate a flag waving in the wind.

Oh hell no if I saw some cave like that on my tub I'm throwing it off the porch and then detonating nine tons of tnt over it.

Cardboard SAB yeah :laugh: my 2nd one actually. I had to kick in my 1st last year when I set it ablaze. I don't use flame now, only fresh blades for every cut. I'm lucky I didn't burn myself.
