Yesterday's jars are today's bulk. Yes, it got super fluffy on top which was the only place my stingy LC dose went. I tried to break and shake early but I think I waited too long and couldn't get a break at all so the top was heavily colonized while I waited on the bottom.

Shoutout to ShaperDreaming's SFF shoebox tex. It put together all the components I was looking at. Substrate ratio, hydration, compression, it matches all my newbie hunches so I'm accepting the bias reinforcement. Hydrated ~60g coir per box, only half the tek's spawn and proportionally less coir but still around 2:1 overall. I'm starting small and anxious and wanted my first two complete jars separate. Later jars probably will go the full 2 pints/box.

And finally, on the shelf to hang out for a while.

No because that would make me want to work FAST and FAST in a SAB is very BAD.

The fact you couldn't break it up leads me to believe it was probably bacterial. Shoebox at 1:2 is a good choice.

I woke up today with my cake literally cracked in half and one side leaning askew like a ramp. Why? Because a massive fruit bloomed on the bottom of the cake that I had no idea was even growing!

They're maturing pretty fast for bispo.  Temp low to mid 70s.

1 of 4 jars.
This jar is all sunflower / safflower with a touch of millet
The remaining 3 are separations of the same wild birdseed.
Ran an experiment to see which of the grains colonized better, using the pasteurization tek that takes 4 days to complete.

The grain bag was labeled 6 grain, cracked corn, millet, sunflower, safflower, peanut, Milo

Jar 2 - all millet
Jar 3 - cracked corn, millet, Milo,Peanut
Jar 4 - all cracked corn

All preparations were made at the same time, 24 hour grain soak, 3 step pasteurization. 3 individual heat baths separated 24 hours apart. Noq’d with GT mss.

Long story short, hydration across the board was all over the place for each jar due to difference in grains.
(Millet dry and stalled, quad-blend started strong but overhydrated, corn started the strongest but half looks mushy)
***( not bacterial as the moisture is clear and beads off the healthy myc)
Surprisingly the jar in the photo is going the strongest, and under further focus each grain has germination going on, 85% colonized, but the divide is 50/50 myc/rhizo

Will birth all individually to small bulk mono tubs.

Not my first post, lost my credentials to a former email, and don’t remember passwords

I found them from a popular vendor that I found on a FB group. For the record, I also support sponsors here as well. I was sure to clone that beast so hopefully it takes well. I believe sv10 has been around for a bit, but this was my first ever grow so I can’t speak from experience. Another tub yielded a few solo fruits that were just a few g’s under 100g’s each.

Any advice on when to tell they are ready to harvest? I notice if I let them grow a few extra days they turn a darker purple on the gills, is that what I want? You’ll see on one of the photos that one is super dark but the others are a bit pale still. I do try to wait until they feel like a marshmallow but don’t want to wait too long.

That picture reminds me a lot of Jack Frost. People like to harvest those when the gills turn blue, probably about the level of maturity of that tub. More time probably won't make much difference other than visual appearance.

Smelly and Quantum, I have an SV-10 culture (one of an increasingly embarrassing number that I haven't tried to fruit yet). If you're interested and don't mind waiting a couple weeks for a fresh plate to grow out, :pm: and I'll send a wedge.
