Where'd you get your B+?

Too bad you're not close to me. I have heaps of trichocereus cacti.

Be careful using aluminium trays, Myc will eat through it and absorb all that chemical shit.
I have tried them as well and when I say they were eating it...

I've made a few prints. I haven't made any syringes up for people or lc yet.
They arent as clean as they would be if i had a flow hood but they are printed in a huge square container that's used for storing pastry sheets. Then minimal amount of time exposed while picking up the caps. Then placed foil in sab to cut and fold.  Pm me if you're interested.

Def top. Been here ten years and don't have a single complaint, except not being back home to help when shit hit the fan earlier this year :frown:

I just got another couple syringes that were backordered today. LC syringes of GT and another LC of Brazilian.

Probably going to make two BIG fuck LC jars from them, so I have samples forever and I'm going to knock up my jars later.

LCs are thriving.

Gonna be a decent flush. Looking forward to round two on these.

Hey guys!
What do you use for the LCs ?
I have PC'ed 4% to 100 home honey/water for some 12 mins, and after got some residues in jars. Most likely honey crystallization. Would it still be ok to let spores in?
Cheers guys!

I use Saunders light malt extract syrup for both lc and agar.
Same ratio of 4%.
Residue is normal.
I've over cooked them before so be careful with your timing. 15-20min is all you need.  Otherwise they caramalise.
Sounds like you have done it properly though.
Good luck with them.

I use light corn syrup. Asian shops often have it, especially in the Korean section but it's not exclusive to Koreans. You might also find it in the foreign food section of Coles or Woolworths where Asian and/or American foods are sold or in the baking section.

I would skip the LC man.

Honey with caramelization + MS tends to lead to no good and even if it does take off, you'd be hard pressed to know for sure if it's clean or not, because of the floaties (not that you ever really know anyways).
LC is great if you could test it on agar before knocking up and possibly wasting a bunch of grains. You'd likely be just as well off using the syringe straight up to do your inoculations.

That said, I'm not a stranger to MS to LC honestly, but I've not head great success. The last two
batches I attempted, I made 4 jars, exact same builds, same LC recipe and hit up 2 of them with an LC syringe of Brazilian and the other two I hit up with 2 different syringes from the same supplier of a Tasmanian MS. The LC to LC turned out fantastic and I am still using it right now for my set up, the other two Tasmanian MS both shit the bed. I've got SFD/Tyvek combo for my GE and professional grade self-healing ports for inoculation and everything is done in a SAB.

Long story short, syringe was dirty (which is expected sometimes), but without being able to cut out the nasty on a dish first and then transfer to LC, it's playing roulette with your spawn to go straight MS>LC.

Not trying to be discouraging and not saying you can't get lucky with it from time to time...just want to make you aware, before you make any final decisions  :sporedrop:

Fourth flush achieved some decent fruit..

126g plus 19g of another cube in the small bowl. I could have picked them last night but had an exhausting night getting everyone to bed so i left it until thismorning. A couple had a spore explosion. This one has the best hipster mo..

I've been working on a few different cubes and woodlovers but these b+ were the first ones i grew from agar and have been the most consistent out of everything.

Haha bare.whiterabbit, got to love when you start a post them someone gets in before you finish it.
Good points on LC too. I agree. Go with agar and get your sterile techniques well practiced before attempting LC

Thank guys for sharing! To which I agree and learn
And so as I am newbee- this is now the learning curve to try/fail/try/grow period.
Adding photo of my first batch, B+. this is the only one box survived out of 5 (all in one go). Others got contaminated badly with trich. To which I believe either I killed mycelium while heating the boxes (then did not have stable temperature control and got some fan blowing too hot).. Or could it also be Brunnings coir, as I find some saying it gets contaminations if not sterilized... or just me missing some focus to either of the details. Cant say much here, will work on it.
My B+ grows look small, they come 2-3cm and drop the veil. I guess it can be genetics... So for prints I got few bigger heads -lets see whats left after rain of spores. Doing print in the SAB.

Also started agar, and if someone can see the photos clearly, those darker spots, are those contams?

Other than that- I am happy with the process . New boxes of wikidzon mixed with some coir and manure (all pasteurized).

Hit me with notes ! Cheers

And yes, agar dishes are watery af, keeping upside down. Pouring into dishes had temperature too high..now i know why maximum 50 celcius must be while pouring.

I've made countless liquid cultures using a spore syringe or spore print and I haven't had any contamination from them. I have made them using a still air box as well as a flow hood.

You can always inoculate a test jar or two when using your liquid culture for the first time so you don't end up with all of your jars being contaminated. I do the same when I use new spore syringes.

With regards to using Brunnings coir bricks, they are what I use. I use Damion5050's bucket tek but instead of using 4 quarts of boiling hot water I use 4.5 litres. This means there is more hot water to help pasteurise the coir and the substrate will remain hotter for longer. The mycelium will also have more water to produce shrooms with when you make your trays etc. Don't forget to mix up the coir and vermiculite really well because any chunks that you fail to break up and expose to that hot water could ruin your grow because of the green mould.

If you want to improve your yield then add some gypsum. You can buy it in bags from Bunnings. I add it to my pot of boiling water but I use a flour sieve before doing so because it's not unusual to find little pebbles and things in the bag.

Cool! I am through agar development now, till gettin it right (believe per my previous photos I have agar dishes contaminated), and then Start LC from healthy agar.
Also, used a bit of gypsum ~2tsp in the substrate. Though my question is whats the ratio of gypsum to substrate to have a decent change. Or in other words, when is it too much of gypsum. Or running PH tests would lead me right direction ?
Thanks!

Take a look at some variations on the 50/50 tek regarding gypsum in the forum search.

I'm still not sure exactly how accurate it is anymore, but you may find this helpful. I've used it a few times with success. 5-10% gypsum by volume supposedly, so enter all of your other values and calculate 5% gypsum and it should tell you the exact quantity you need, based on your sub recipe and container used.

If you can afford it then buy a small flow hood. You'll never go back to using a still air box and agar will be so much easier to do and so much more successful. Everything else will be too.

I normally just add a cup of gypsum per brick of coir. It has a tendency to settle at the bottom of the bucket so before making your trays make sure you mix the substrate up well.

The white 20 litre buckets from Bunnings work well for the bucket tek if you're looking for decent buckets.

Cheers for advice! I am considering flow hood, but build myself. Checking prices for HEPA, blower motors and alignments with each other. Believe putting in willingness, it must come out a descent tool  :hook:
