I've grown them indoors from spores to fruits. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26791205 They don't produce very prolifically indoors. I'm yet to see an indoor grow produce a full canopy of fruits. Some cellar grows have come close. There's certainly a need we're not addressing.

Those grains look good tygriffc. Would you mind sharing your bulk attempts here? I cant seem to find where grow journals are on here.

Ive got 2 Jars of subs on grains I'm not sure what substrate to go with but I wanna try an indoor grow this year.

Bob was taken - Ive read that grow some months ago thought it was an eye opener for how hard it will be to grow subs indoors.

I was thinking of doing something like warks fish tank tek as a sort of indoor outdoor tub but plastic without the moss for some P.subs if anyone had some input on fails and successes of fruiting subs indoors. I'm planning on moving shortly so don't really wanna set up an outdoor patch

Wark's fish tank is great tek.

The moss creates the micro climate for the myc to grow but peatmoss and pine needles could do the same thing.

What coir does everyone else here use? I've been playing around with casing layers recently (Trying Dreamer's SSF tek... the idea I can soak and leave it is really enticing) but to my shock and horror my casing is growing some kind of mold.

I am using the Brunnings [sic] coir-peat brick from Bunnings:



but even after BOD's bucket tek I got trich growing in exclusively the casing shoeboxes. I then tried outright sterilizing the coir at 15 psi for 2.5 hours, soaked using boiled and then cooled water, and am now getting weird cobwebby type growth after 5 days:



So what's going on? Does this coir actually have nutrients in it or something? Where are these contams coming from? Is there anywhere else to get coir from so I can eliminate a variable...

I have had similar issues with that coir even after pasteurising. There are species of trich used in horticulture to stop root fungus and I suspect that it is added to this brand. It is not uncommon practice.

Sorry coir has been discussed on page 5-6.
I've since got myself some of that ecotech jungle bricks I've got the bunnings brunnings band which I'm not going to trial for this grow. Plan on putting spawing some grains this weekend.

You're right it was discussed earlier... My bad.

So it looks like lots of people use the Bunnings brand without any problems... I still find it so weird that I get mold on mine, just bucket tek-ing it or even after pressure-cooking the hell out of it. I'm also spraying distilled water on it, so I doubt there was nutrients from the water...

I'm so happy I found this thread!!! All the info here on the shroomery is understandably US-centric. Nice to have found an Aussie info source. I've already learned a lot regarding supplies :cool:

I'm in the middle of fucking up my first PFtek grow. I have a contamination issue and I THINK I know what one is but not sure about the other, and I have three jars inoculated at the same time that aren't growing anything. I posted about it on The Noob Forum here but that may not have been the best place. No help, so far. If someone could have a look at the pictures, I would appreciate any help.

Hope youse are all well in this strange time.

Dammit!
Got hit hard by some green mold. I believe its come from the storage containers that I've been using for my agar plates. It's no where else yet. Don't think it came in from my SAB or work inside there Ive done everything the same. Ill be throwing out a dozen good 'mono cultures' plus the containers. I'm worried about my grow room and grains. I was going to hydrate some coir this weekend in the room and set up a dozen shoe box grows. Pretty reluctant now..

Might take my coir and spawn to my friends place and do it there in there spare room.

Yeah wow man. I’ve had a few go that way too. So you think it’s the storage area. Interesting.  I had some jars go bad and others were fine. They were stored separately too.

Has to be. I put agar plates into this storage box for 2 weeks the bottom plates grew mold. Threw them away then the same again. Then that happened. My agar is good because I've got some I put into another container. My SAB hasn't changed I always wear gloves and follow the same procedures when I work. And my myselium is clean scalpel gets sprayed and flamed. Has to be from there. Next containers I get ill spray with my Diggers meths, maybe even a touch of bleech

Probably too cold and/or it was cased at fruiting. By the time the first wild subs are found in Victoria you can bet they've been a month in the making. That is to say pinning was initiated by conditions preceding these finds by a month.

Once the wheels are set in motion they'll continue to flush right through the coldest parts of winter. My point is colder is not better for initiating pinning and temps in the 5-10c range will delay fruiting by slowing metabolism. If the mycelium is not fully consolidated it will just sit there for months on end.

P.subaeruginosa consolidates and fruits much sooner in the 15c temp range. Next season allow the casing to fully colonize and then place the containers in a shady place in autumn and water as needed. Chances are by June the first fruits will emerge.

If what you say is true. Wouldn't they have a chance to fruit now once it warms up to the temps you mentioned and they have had time to consolidate?

That depends on the importance of a temperature drop as a pinning trigger. Spring fruitings have occurred with P.azurescens. You could also try keeping the container indoors for a few weeks at higher temps and reintroducing outdoors to simulate summer/autumn conditions. I believe Moricz has had some success with this strategy.
