Bought some petri dishes and gl45 bottles from a science shop online which had afterpay and found a $15 PC on gumtree.

UrbanC, or anyone else, have you experienced any major adverse reactions to high temps during any particular stage of cultivation? A lot of >35 degree days across the country recently, and that's likely to be the case for the next couple of months. Just wondering if I should try and time certain stages outside of hotter periods. The coolest room / cupboard inside at my place is still probably going to be over 30 deg if the mercury outside is hitting 35-40.

Coir. This was from Bunnings also, just couldn’t find it on their website. The package states it is good to go for reptiles, which UrbanC noted in the initial post.

I understand you can do a straight coir substrate, but this is my first go at this and I found a tek that got through my think skull, so I am following it to the T. I wash my wheat with boiling hot water from the kettle till the water is clear, let soak for about 30mins in fresh boiled water, drain and let cool till dry, jar/bag and pc.

I must admit though i fucking do love experimenting with different bits and pieces and shit.
Fail more often than not, but the process is fun.

When I have a successful grow and a few on the go I will do a bit of experimenting.

One other thing I have been looking into is ‘dunking’ grains prior to putting them to bulk. A fair few TCs have said they do it, but the threads are dated. The tek I am following (gordos tek) and bods teks don’t mention it and many other don’t believe it’s needed.

Any Aussie legends have any experience with this?

I use to use WBS but got sick of pick out all the corn and my brother was up at Petbarn getting food for his new chooks and saw the wheat, came home and was like would this work...

Second update!

So I did end up air-conditioning most of the last few weeks. It got damn hot and humid. For some reason, one of my boxes appeared to be 1/2 to 1 day ahead of the other in growth. So by the time I was around to harvest, I think one was a little overdone. Either way, super happy with the results!




Can I confirm with y'all, are these actually B+? I bought from someone off Reddit in Australia and not one of the trusted vendors because of importing issues. They look the same as lots of pics I have seen on here. Am hoping to give a try today, my first time! Any tips for trips? I am going to start at 2g, does that sound sensible?

This has been a fun ride. Can't wait to start on grains and using agar!

So finally made some agar.

10g malt extract syrup
10g agar agar from Asian store
and 500ml water.

The sab is pretty messed up. I used a jig saw to cut the holes but it cracked the plastic.

I'm going to let the plates sit for a few days as I'm worried my sterile technique sucked. Bleach cleaned the box and sprayed lots of iso but I'm still not sure how well I poured.

Looks way better than mine, I tried the same thing and it cracked on me. I just used a torch on it to melt the break and re-seal it, worked a charm but doesn't look too appealing Still functions the same anyhow.

Congrats on the grow! Looks fantastic. Not sure about B+ as I've never used them, they look like they would be however. 2g is a great start, its my go-to most of the time, an excellent level for both experienced trippers and beginners.
