I have a drum in the garden which I had filled with all sorts of invasive plants/weeds like Agapanthus, Tradescantia zebrina, ivy, oxalis......
Filled it up with water, put lid on and watched it for two years, feeding it a couple of buckets of wood ash during the winter.

First the top was covered in white mold, which disappeared after a year. Then the lid got pushed up from plant matter rising to the top due to gas
buildup and now most of it has settled down and it smells like ruminant manure. Going to trial it on a few plants as a fertilizer before I spread
it to make sure no pathogens are hiding in there and of course the liquid is going to be pasteurized and used to hydrate coir for pan tubs.

The pH of the stuff is 6 which is not too bad, maybe a little hydrated lime to bring it up a notch.




Got a sack of horse manure here as well to run control tubs.

It doesn't always have to be go big or go home, I would guess a lot of us don't need any more fruits so then play is were it's at

I suppose you've seen MojaveMyc's CV+ thread? My point being that it's sounds to me that you are making your own fertilizer in that drum

I made this cause I wanted to kill those weeds but then I thought I keep it and see what is going to happen and whether it is going to be useful.

Yep fruits usually go on the compost playing around and trying new things is what drives me most.

Nope, no bruising whatsoever and doesn’t smell like a mushroom.  I’m kind of perplexed and 99% sure I didn’t mix up the genetics with something else.

I’m thinking it must be a result of contamination from the spawn although that looked very healthy.  The substrate and casing were used for Pan Jams in the same tub and grew just fine (see below).
