Damn Baba,
Can’t go into the festival campground until midnight so I’m sitting in a Walmart parking lot and this beautiful plate porn comes across my screen. Good day. Thanks

Don’t forget to check your Pan plates for the stones I posted about.

Lots of people don’t. Yet I’ve been posting about it for years now.
Look two pages back last post. I added an old post I made in this thread years ago talking about it.

yep that happened a few times but rarely

and I had a jar that was riddled with stones and maybe with something else as well? Can't remember if it was producing or tammed out.

do you have a clue what does initiate stone formation or is it just genetics? I think I had this plate in the fridge for a couple of weeks but others were not doing this.

Honestly have no idea. Once upon a time I wondered if it was because I used brf agar (chunky bits of br) but got them on pda also. I did find that I would some times get them and other times not. Even from the same print.

What lead me to looking at them was I had ran into an older post here from the guy who owns cyber-shrooms. But also I was growing some Mexicana and the morphology on agar looked very similar when there are stones growing.

So can’t help much with what causes it besides just guessing genetics.

Testing a lower ratio.  Top three are my usual 1:2 full pint and the bottom 6 were 3 pints split at 1:4.  2 pints of the bottom weren’t super clean but I imagine the 2nd flush might be better

Hey Fahtster I understand 1:2 and 1:4 are spawn to sup ratios but not clear about what you mean by full pint and 3 pints.

Thanks Kloakk and congrats with your TC badge! Very much deserved!!

Good to know about the misting and thank you for the Bisp picture, it sure looks like some kind of mold!

I have no choice but to start with pans, I almost completely lost interest in Cubes after trying pans and subtropicalis:lol: And thank you for that aswell!

Thanks man appreciate it. Sorry for the late response, I was going to answer, but then baba posted all that plate porn and I got sidetracked

And yes, exotics will often do that to cubes, but I am slowly finding my way back to cubes, not like with exotics, but still.

I was wondering, how will you manage temperature for pans, I believe we have a pretty similar climate and fall is here

No worries, it's easy to get sidetracked here:lol:

I haven't given up on cubes completely yet, I have a Toque F8 culture going after a previously failed attempt with them, but I'm pretty sure that I will not consume them. :muppet:

I'm in the process of building a Martha/fruiting chamber of a small insulated cold room/fridge. For heat source I'm going to use a heat tube similar to the one you use in your fridge setup.

I split 1 pint between two trays for the bottom 6 trays.  Started with 6 pints total, made nine trays.  I’m sure there’s a better way to say it that’s less confusing but math was never my strong suit

Oooo, I'm really excited about the Toque F8, so much so that I don't even want the old fruits I have laying around, but never tried, so I revived it a couple of weeks ago to grow some new fruits lol.

It's supposed to be really potent, I'm reviving it mostly because it is unstable at the F8 as well so I'm going to see if I can find something fun :awedance:

Yes, it seems to be very unstable, a lot of funny looking blobs etc.

Outdoor Bisporus pin after a long hiatus.
I've tried a lot recently, but I've found that colonizing actual grass-fed horse shit in sterile conditions and then spawning that is the best method. Spawning straight grain has a 100% failure rate. I've also mixed in some small woodchips into the horse shit so that the mycelium can hide in them even better and be a bit protected.

This was a small compost pile inoculation (mostly decaying hay) and I'm still waiting for the mycelium to actually spread, but considering how recently I've inoculated this pile and only a single rain event triggering the pinning - my hopes are high. A Bisporus permaculture would be absolutely awesome, and the myc still has time to hide in the pile for better winter protection.

Couple lower ratio ziplocks..

I usually do 1:2ish per tray so, 1 myco pint to a true quart of sub.  For these trays I split one pint between two trays.  I’d say I did get 1.5x more fruits between the 2 trays but used 2x as much substrate

Fruits seem a bit scrawnier too so I’ll probably save the sub and carry on with 1:2ish

Been playin with the amount of larger holes in the bags and I think I’ve found the upper limit.  I’ll reduce down a touch and see if I get a little less cap cracking

The 5 year old Thai Suphan Buri (cambo) and 2.5 year old bisporus LC's bounced back

Both showed clearly visible new grows after one week in the new broth. 3 days in I wasn't sure if anything was happening at all, then I thought the
mycelium fragments were perking up a bit, then fragments would start to loosely stick together when left alone and since yesterday I can see new
hyphae poking out of the myc clumps. It took a week but it was also only 15C in the room.

So stoked, 5 years is the oldest low nutrient LC I have revived so far and since it was on par in term of recovery speed with it's half as old cousin
I have reason to believe it could go easily twice as long. I will turn up the heat a little, leave them for a few days longer and give them a first shake.

More 100ml media bottles are on the way so I can juggle more long term LC's and keep more around for longer.
