Best Evidence
    #2371654 - 02/23/04 01:29 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Why is it when asked for "Best Evidence" of some alleged other-wordly phenomenon and it is shown to be severely lacking in substance, the proponents will start the chant of "what about the rest of the evidence?"

I don't care about the rest. If the the majority of aficionados of such a supernatural event cannot discern the wheat from the chaffe when presenting their strongest case; then perhaps it is ALL chaffe.

well... i read today in this phamplet about islam... that god or muhammed knew about how the human embryo was formed.

"it was made from clay, then formed into the appearance of a leech, then into a blood clot" this is all translated of course

it was written 1400 years ago!... i dont know. maybe you would like to see the phamplet?

It also says that they knew that mountains had roots in the ground... scientists just recently discovered how far mountains go down into the earth... and act as stabilizers.

Im quoting this all of course. But i did find it interesting. What do you think of it?

Ummmm, "No true Scotsman?"

No no no, I mean real evidence. I don't care about that pagan crap you just used to contradict me. Out with the GOOD stuff.

Blah, Blah, Blah we all know there's never enough evidence for you. I just don't understand why no one has seen God for quite some time now and people still belive in him. Yet thousands of people report alien phenomena all over the world everyday and people just go "not enough evidance, blah, blah, blah, your crazy, blah blah blah".

Because, that is how evolution works. Don't you get the pattern by now. The discovery precedes the theoreotical evidence. God is pure information. He/she is the discovery and is perfection, which is always correct and on time. How can you expect man to compete in the race to get the evidence updated fast enough. A good example of your claims would be to look at the computer industry imagine a man with a constant pay check of minimum wage trying to have his computer top of the line every month.

Blah, Blah, Blah we all know...
We who? All other minds are in accord? With an erroneous lead-in like that it is no wonder I find it hard to take you seriously.

...there's never enough evidence for you.
Enough? How about one tiny, SOLID piece?

I just don't understand why no one has seen God for quite some time now and people still belive in him.
Me neither. Please look up "strawman argument" and report back when you understand it.

Yet thousands of people report alien phenomena all over the world everyday and people just go "not enough evidance, blah, blah, blah, your crazy, blah blah blah".
Do you understand the difference between a report and evidence? Report back when you actually get it.

Should you read the section on "Ad Hominem Variants" again, Swami? You seem to enjoy pointing others to this document...

You're here because you know something.
What you know you can't explain,
But you feel it;
You've felt it your entire life.
That there's something wrong with the world.
You don't know what it is, but it's there....
Like a splinter in your mind...
Driving you mad.

Sooooo you're saying that you never had a belief in anything that didn't have a solid/physical piece of evidence huh? I never put 100% belief into something without solid evidence either but i don't knock it as bad as you do. Where must evidence come from in order to be legitimate? A scientist? The government? You? John Edward? Hmm. All this alien phenomena crap is simply a presented possibility until someone can get a solid piece of evidence before the United States government can, its not a fact. But i just  can't see someone knock it so harshly without evidence that it doesn't exist.

* smirks after successfully getting, an angry response and hopes for another one *

:rolleyes:Blah!

Apparently off-topic posting is acceptable for some, so in that spirit:

"And I suggest if we are sincere in our intentions the future will determine who is lying (if anyone) and who, is not."

Tsk tsk

Yes, the evidence has already borne that out when you cried to everyone on multiple forums ( "Help! Help! My life has been threatened! What should I do? I am afraid I might disappear. Should I call the authorities?" ) when no such threat occurred. Lies just don't get any BIGGER than that.

Of course, the egregious and childish slander from you of "Swami hates shroomism." comes in a close second. NOT EVEN SHROOMISM BELIEVED THAT PIECE OF GARBAGE. Anyone here can PM him if one so desires and not take my word for it.

come on guys...dont argue over stuff like that.  it doesnt matter who stated it.  your both bigger than that.  your both very intellegent and get much respect and love from this community.  lead by example is something i read from a swami post long ago, and its stuck with me;  you both, whether you realize it or not, help people realize other points of view, and teach in your own ways.

if someone slanders you, then their the ones that are hurting and crying out for help and/or attention, so show them love.

swami, this community knows that you respect and care for shroomism very much, especially if you've been here long.  everyone sees that.  both of you need to kiss and make up, please.

if i was a moderator i would have deleted this post.

you're just trying to start an arguement swami. your way of thought is already dying in the civilized world as a whole, you'll be dead by the time there is group acceptance of the things you claim to be seeking. hmm, i guess that means you'll find out some new truths at the same time the world does, nice how it works out like that.

anyways, since you started it, your method of thinking is rapidly becoming outdated.

Would YOU let lies about you slide by? Yes or no?

your way of thought is already dying in the civilized world as a whole
Pleas explain to me my way of thinking.

Leave it out of this forum, Swami. I've asked you that plenty of times already and if you don't comply I will request that you be banned.

Simple? One would think so...
