Lol... You would think so nowadays. PE is a 'strain' of cubensis with certain traits selected for. I wouldn't necessarily say mutation, though the genetics have become quite unstable and mutation prone.

Nah, I am pretty sure it was a mutation stabilized by Pollock in the 80s or something. It's somewhat stable, but in the context of being a mutation. It being a mutant makes it more prone for shit like that, such as blobbing and conjoined fruits.

Not by Pollock. That I believe was a smokescreen thrown up by the real creator. From what I have heard on the subject by guys like dreamster1 and ryche, the trail begins with Gee. Whether he was the person to stabilize it or not, that is all we know with certainty.

That's very interesting. I wish I knew more about it. Would love to see some APE OP with people saying, "Clone it!"

Your pinset would be much better if you would have given half a shit to level the substrate surface. But 6th grade projects yield 6th grade results.

I actually did level it pretty well, although sometimes my eyesight can't tell between one corner to the next rising gradually. I legit take a level throughout the sub and smooth out bumps. My pics are always at a weird level too. This one is tilted sideways through the top hole, my sub isn't at a 90 degree angle lol

I also had to dig out a big chunk of trich to get some pins which raised up the back right corner. It ate half the casing which wasn't smoothed down so it looks bumpy.

First pic I have of it.

Other current subs. See, not bad!

Well then you'd be mistaken because it is technically a mutation, given that it's a variant from the normal phenotype of cubensis, and is stored genetically.  The world mutation holds too much connotation, we fail to remember stuff like green and blue eyes are mutations.

I don't think all phenotype variations can be classified as mutations. I mean, if you want to go that far, then according to the theory of evolution, virtually every gene in our DNA is technically a mutation. I don't know where the line is, but if we extrapolate too much the word is pretty much meaningless.

I would not say that Penis Envy itself is a mutation. It is the product of selective breeding. Like a dog breed.

It can't be a mutant if it doesn't look like this :hulk2:

Actually, a mutation can be any genetic anomaly. However, I'd say once stabilized, it becomes a characteristic of said species/subspecies. I'm fairly certain PE is an example of a fairly stabilized set of characteristics that started as mutations, though it is degenerating it seems.

Just my 2¢ :nerd:

I seem to be having the same prob and am gettings tons of crazy mutants and diseased looking fruits. Other than removing the diseased fruits and of coarse cleaning and working on my sterile tek what can I do?
It does seem to be getting worse and just not sure how it is being spread?

It's probably a problem with your culture. My AA+ had the same problem, and it was because I started from a really weak culture. Probably has shit riding along with it.

Try starting with a fresh culture
