Video: G2G Transfers In SAB 13

Here's a quick video of how I perform G2G transfers in my SAB. All jars were wiped down once outside of the SAB and once again inside before filming. I'm used to expanding to 6 jars and went a bit light on these by accident. However, I do purposely leave some grain in the masters to sniff after.
Mistakes:
- One minor mistake I make is moving a jar out of the line barehanded from the bottom without wiping my hand before I touch the jar. I usually grab jars by the tops with the iso-towel, whoops. Not a major fuck up, but worth fixing.
- I shouldn't wipe down the master jar without securing the lid better. I usually place my index on the SFD and wipe around the rim. In the sped up intro you can see it popping open slightly twice.
Please drop any comments, especially advice or helpful criticism. While I have a very good G2G success rate, I can always get better.
Cheers!

This is a nice video.
I like the hanging paper towel to clean your index and thumb before unscrewing the jar and how your right hand only holds the master jar.

Yep. That's the name of the game. Don't fill your SAB too much, remove jars if necessary and re-sanitize your hands, make slow, controlled movements.

Look at stare go! From asking 4826475849264 questions to making instructional videos. Nice touch with the iso soaked paper towels over the receiving jars.

Haha thanks. I think I saw TranscendingLife do that and thought it was a nice touch. Don't worry, I still ask 38753875375 questions. Shit, this video was supposed to be me asking how my technique is. I'd feel swell if it was solid enough to help others!

Quick observation: the lids are actually never touching. Like TL's video its hard to tell from a top down angle.
When practicing i grab the master jar about knuckle level then recipient jar at the finger tip. It does take some practice.

Yeah, my lids never touch. I have the master lid in my thumb and index and the receiving lid between my thumb middle and thumb. The master is a bit higher up on the thumb to provide space between. Keeping both lids over one another in the same space, both pointing down, with minimal movement is also great, IMO.
It's worthwhile to practice a bunch outside of the SAB. I'll take another video with a different angle for a different technique sometime.

Thanks. Yeah, if your grain doesn't move around smooth like that, you may have a prep issue. However, I start with my grain right against the lid from tilting the jar upside downs, so that helps. I also twist instead of shaking (a la RR) which is a smoother motion. These are oats FWIW.

Useing oats myself. They break up just not as smooth as yours. I think it would be a good idea for me to practice outside the box awhile first

I was wondering about the towel in the bottom of the sab. Do you soak it with anything? I always set up on a smooth table i can sanitize but the jars do slide around ( and scratch the shit out of the table ) so if a soaked towel will work id use that just didnt know how to sanatize it properly

For sure, practice makes perfect. I use eat's oat prep tek which is about as simple as it gets. Give your grain the toilet paper test before placing into jars and your grain should be as smooth as mine. Give it a shot and if there's still trouble, make a thread detailing your process.

Nope, it's just a clean towel with tap water I wring out. I'm not too concerned with it being sanitary; it provides a non-slippery platform. A clean SAB is secondary to solid technique. Remember, your success depends on the principle of still air, not sterility.
I do very little for SAB sanitation. I'll wipe the inside and outside with iso before I spray with soapy water. After a session, I'll wipe down the outside again with the used paper towels before tossing them. If I'm using the SAB within the next day or so, I'll just cover the holes with a clean towel and tuck them under.

Extremely helpful video for visualization. I couldn't think of a good way to do it and this helps immensely.
