There should be no difference in conditions between colonizing and fruiting.  Introduce fruiting conditions at spawning.

That is true, they are tight. How much air do they need during colonization?


That air space in the tub is enough. I always open mines every 2 days just to look so that may help with gas exchange.

Not a requirement but more efficient. The spawn run/fruiting phases are really old and not necessary unless you’re trying to slow the tub down to keep a schedule or something.

I don't want to slow it down. I want to speed it up. Wont it start fruiting before it's fully colonized if it's in fruiting conditions?

I was thinking it would be a later problem to solve but I guess I have to think of something now. :grin:

No, full colonization is the main pinning trigger. It won’t pin early unless it’s contaminated.

Once you have your coir hydration and the holes in your tub dialed in you don’t need to touch a tub until harvest time. Just spawn it and come back in like two weeks.

Interesting, and also impossible to not look at them for two weeks. I keep checking everything multiple times a day because it's so fun. :grin:

It will take some time to figure out the right conditions since this is my first time and there's a lot of variables. I'm thinking maybe put them in some bags with holes and micropore tape or maybe in a bigger box.

GT shoebox spawned 6/6 with a 1:6 ratio (4 quarts coir mixed and 2 as a top layer). This is my furthest along out of 4 boxes. Grain was inoculated with vendor LC after testing on agar. Looks like a bunch of pins starting to join the 2 bigger guys.
