We have a few strains of wild mushrooms most common one would be liberty caps

Are those coir cakes there /\^/\



Made these cakes because I had an free syringe of PESHA lying around and didn’t feel like using grain for a MS. Every jar started pinning before they were done.

The bottom was still uncolonized in that picture you just can’t see it. It was done a day or two later. When the cakes shrunk the top straight very layer fell down little is all. Actually took this picture just in case anyone said that. I only use cakes when I just want some prints and only have a ms syringe. I don’t think it’s a bad way to find good phenotypes either. Or test them out anyway.

Celestial, do you have black trays inside of your tubs, or are the bottoms just painted black up to the sub line? Hard to tell from your pics.

I have a roll of wide 2’in electrical tape that I just wrap around the outside of the shoebox. It’s so fast and easy and you can take it off later if you need to.

Those Melmak murdered the surface though. Hopefully they’re potent and I can dig a plate of this culture out of storage.

I just opened my picture app and thought this overview was funny. Sums up my last few months perfectly.

lol I was wondering that too and then I realized that was the period after I lost two batches of jars back to back and had nothing going on. I don’t take many pictures of jars and colonizing tubs.

I just can’t get over the Melmak clone turning out the way it did based on where it came from.

Yeah I definitely thought I had gotten the wrong swab at first. But I’ve never grown Melmak before this so there’s nowhere I could’ve gotten mixed up. I took two clones from that tub and the second one is just starting to pin so I’m curious what it’ll be.

A couple other people had Melmak spores grow big but normal looking cubes around the same time I did. The genetic diversity is nuts.

Well at a Fungus Fair. I was just blown away by the variety
and quantity they collected locally. Had mushroom soup, bought some oil
and got the T-shirt!  LOL

Coir+composted manure, I layered this tub like how eat's does his, see if I can get a pinset like he does....B+ clone material, 5 quarts of coooooooorn!
Probably 2 more days until I start FAE.
