I agree

also, creativity does take a good energy which could be considered silence as well

This reminds me of the flow of current down a conductor by the propagation of holes rather than electrons themselves.

Most of the death metal I listen to is more of the Gothenburg sound (IN FLAMES, Opeth, Dark Tranquility, that kind of thing), and is quite different than what I was talking about there... constant EVERYTHING.

Myself, I love the DYNAMIC music. Music that has all sorts of colours, textures, facets.. however you want to put it into words. Music that has a lot of different places that it takes you.. my favourite bands being the aforementioned, Tool, Metallica, System of a Down, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Pink Floyd, and all of the trance I listen to (Shpongle, Infected Mushroom, The Pleidaians, Ethnica, Hallucinogen, Juno Reactor, Astral Projection) ... my band being the epitome of all of that. I can't describe it in words, but you will KNOW when you hear it..

And, to prove that this isn't all off-topic, music is my path to Enlightenment...
Peace.

I have been to many Hindu temples and the core of most spiritual practices involves alot of Devotional Singing

that stuff is also highly dynamic

Well Skip, a lot of meditation has do to with self control...and not only your basic self control either, but being able to remain in control of yourself while in an altered state of being. You need to be able to control your thoughts (par exampla: that whole 'quieting of the mind' thing) as well as any physical sensations that may arise in the process (can we say tingle tingle) So you can see why being able to resist certain distractions can assist in asteral projection and the like.

Unfortunately though I don't know of any books on the subject (seeing as I never really have been much of a reader myself) but I did find a couple of websites that might help:

http://www.ria.edu/kismet/DreamControl.htm
http://www.thiaoouba.com/astr.htm
http://www.lucidity.com/
http://www.dreamviews.com/
http://www.lucidity.com/NL52.LightandMirror.html

Note: I just statched these out of a quick google search, so I can't guarentee that they'll be *that* great...but they should certainly give you something that'll get the ball rolling, so to speak.

Hope it helps ^_~

One method I have tryed to do this is take a large amount of shrooms and try and watch t.v for the whole trip. I find this does become difficult, but focus can be maintained. Just go and put some movie on and try and follow the plot.

think that dreams are the mind working out some of its problems partly...and other dreams are highly significant....they say when a Saint visits you in a dream, 100% of the time its because they chose to do so...

So when a porn star visits me in my dream then...

by Dr. Wayne Dyer....he spits knowledge! he quotes St. Francis to Patanjali, Ramana Maharshi...

He also quotes such frauds as Carlos Castaneda and Dr. Sixpac Chopra...

I have been to many Hindu temples and the core of most spiritual practices involves alot of Devotional Singing

Swami Kriyananda of SRF devoted 50 years to writing and singing devotional chants then got kicked out of Ananda for using his position of authority to get sexual favors by giving female devotees "a blessing". Perhaps a little too much stimulation of the third chakra that caused him to raise more than his spiritual vibrations...

do you listen to what the quotes are...or just the names behind em?

I think the quotes he brings from them are pretty valid.
his books do cover alot of ground though... its easier digest as a few pages at a time...

Carlos Casteneda's quote refers to forgetting your personal history... thats a good thing to do when you identify yourself with your past...and what i've seen wayne dyer to take from many places, including people who arent enlightened..is very valid

may I ask you what caused you to choose that name, and hang ouot in this forum?

I think that little story of yours is a very ignorant thing to bring to the table when I'm expressing the validity of music.

is focusing on all the negative things in the world how you remove your problems?

so the moral of your story was that...spiritual practices and music lead you to give up your ideals?

I guess we should go back to eating beef and voting for bushes.

Ahahaha

Swami, you have no right to go around not believing what people say, even.. ESPECIALLY when the person saying that stuff has no reason to believe what he says other than the words sound pretty when you string them together into a sentence. Why are you here? From now on only agree with stuff you read. I mean, Geez, YOU ARE SOOO MEAN, even though none of your posts in this thread attack anyone, they shatter my porcelain belief system by making fun of people and religions I blindly worship.

I know people, swami, LOTS of people, and I even saw a guy light a piece of paper on fire with ONLY his mind... well, I wish I did.
