Mind momentum

When you sit around at your computer wasting time, or when you're at working or school doing something you'd rather not be, the mind builds momentum. It starts to actually create subtle physical tension throughout the body as a way of saying, "This sucks! I wish I were being stimulated with pleasurable sensory experiences!"
To me meditation just seems to be a way of going deeper and deeper into the, "This breath is it" state of mind. One realizes more and more that nowhere one can go can take one away from one's mind. This is a very simple concept. If you want to experience contentment, is has to be now, and if you let the mind convince you it's not now, you are just constantly building up momentum and tension that will only lead to a sense of non-fulfillment. So really you can meditate right where you are by slowing down, straightening up your back, feeling yourself breathe, and deciding "I am going to loosen this tension, feel the stillness behind each breath, and be fully here now."
What do you think?
-------------------- “Strengthened by contemplation and study, I will not fear my passions like a coward. My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

I think you should write a book.

ooooh burn! ... just kidding.
I agree in a sense. Sometimes in class i get this so called "brain momentum" thing you speak of where you can't sit still, start doodling or day dreaming, what have you, but once I realize it I can refocus my mind back into the class and in paying attention. "I am in class. I am hear to learn. Pay attention" etc., but sometimes class is just so damn long =\

I know what you mean, I took a mini-break myself and may do so again soon. But all so - here is here no matter where, and the Shroomery is a fun here as long as you don't let your ego convince you you're wasting time (no such thing!).
edit: It's all about bringing awareness into every avenue of activity in life. I just noticed after I typed this that there was a strong sensation in my chest of uneasiness linked to posting at the Shroomery...as if part of me is dying by spending time here. Now I am going to observe that feeling and go deeper into it.

To me meditation just seems to be a way of going deeper and deeper into the, "This breath is it" state of mind. One realizes more and more that nowhere one can go can take one away from one's mind. What do you think?
the little deal I make with myself, is that I don't even need to straighten my back or change pace: all I do is begin to follow breath "beginning middle end" noting the parts. the breathing gets deeper. things let go. its pretty good.
I usually forget to do it if someone else is in the room moving around, but in a quiet space, and sometimes at a stoplight...
