It would not surprise me one bit if we started seeing suicide bombings against schools and universities by fundamentalist Christians for teaching the theory of evolution.

fivepointer: Let me guess... your god created dinosaurs to test your faith, and the Earth is really only 10,000 years old right?

Sounds a bit out-dated, but what do I know? But at least, you'll feel warm and fuzzy when death grips you hard.

I also want to say, Jesus was not what some might label a "Christian."

Why is there found in the fossil record a creature called Archaeopteryx with feathered wings and a skeletal structure similar to the skeletal structure of dinosaurs and a jaw full of sharp teeth instead of a beak?

Could it be because birds evolved from dinosaurs as the progression seen in the fossil record shows?

Fortunately suicide is still a sin with these people, but these types can justify and rename to suit their prejudices.

Evolution is a tricky process. Much more complicated than I could ever explain, but one time when I was 14 I fucked a sunday ham and it magickly turned into a priest.

I may not always like how evolution works, but atleast I've got god on my side now.

we had to take a religion class in high school and my friend asked the teacher, "Where are the dinosaurs in the Bible?" Everyone laughed but he was serious and went on,"well if the Bible starts at day 1 then there should be dinosaurs there"

But seriously, this thread shouldn't exist. we're beating a dead horse. There is no debate, because fivepointer is basing all his thoughts off the Bible and trying to discredit a whole other realm of thinking, science.

The bible believes in creationism, so obviously evolution will not be heard or discussed at all.

Science believes in evolution, and while there may be that exclusion of the rotifer, most of it resides around evolution.

The bible believes in creationism

The bible doesn't believe in anything, people assign meaning to the writings of the bible. Some people believe these interpretations of the scripture.

Creationism is just one interpretation that can be assigned to some of the writing in the bible.

It's ignorant to think that something greater planned every creatures' existence when you can obviously see that the environment alone decided it.

environment alone decided it.

The ability to be a pattern and to recognise patterns, makes your statement, even if true hard to accept.

You're right and I shouldn't have made the generalization of the bible pin-pointing creationism, but more on the stance of creationism that fivepointer has.

All this ranting, but no one has addressed the undeniable fact that more ordered and complex information does not arise out of random disturbance of existing information.

The theory is absurd.

I did in my post that you quoted and said I didn't.

Things get more complex because they develop new traits which allow them to survive and pass on when they reproduce.

It's like building one of those model airplanes that you can actually fly. It starts out as nothing, but over time more pieces are added until it's ready for takeoff. Evolution works in a similar fashion.

When I was in seminary one of my classmates gave me a little book about science refuting evolution. It was just bad science. You should read a biology text book sometime fivepointer, one from this millennia. Evolution explains everything from the various dog breeds to drug resistant germs, to symbiotic relationships better than any other theory. Once you accept it as true you can begin the very fruitful task of reconciling it with Christianity. The two are compatible I believe.

Indeed they are compatible. Several people I have known in my life were christians who believed in evolution.

My biology teacher in high school was a devout christian, but if weren't for her I'd probably still be denouncing evolution much the same as you do, fivepointer.

Micro-evolution is a reordering of existing information, this is seen around us. However macro-evolution is not a reordering, but creation of entirely new complex information. How does this complexity come into existence? It simply can't happen. Disordering of information never creates new more ordered and complex information
