Pat Robertson hates America

Apparently it's not just Chavez he hates, but also his own country. Let's look at a few quotes from Mr. 700 Club:

    I would wager the majority of christians are in agreement with pat fuckerson. And the real hard core christians are only allowed to watch their programming, so many, many of them watch pat regularly and have sat through lots of his crazy rants and still watch. To me that = agreement. But I doubt anyone here agrees with him, for any hardcore christians would be forbidden from this site anyway.

    Venezuelan Vice President Charles Rangel (D) had it right. Calls for the assassination of world leaders should be done only by the seasoned professionals on Air America, where they can be directed at members of the Bush administration in a humorous, light-hearted fashion. What Robertson did goes beyond the pale. In a free, democratic society like Venezuela, he'd never get away with it.

    (2005-08-23) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez beefed up security at his residence and offices today after reports that Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson has issued a fatwa calling for the assassination of the South American communist dictator.

    Venezuelan police have begun detaining and searching "clean cut, Bible-toting men in unfashionable clothing" as likely followers of the wealthy, charismatic religious personality. However, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) immediately lodged a protest with the Venezuelan government over the "profiling" of '700 Club' devotees by security forces.

    Mr. Robertson is revered among his fanatical TV viewers, who each year contribute millions of dollars to advance his so-called "ministry," as much as he's feared by the teams of U.S. journalists who track his movements and record his remarks.

    The Pentagon immediately denied that Mr. Robertson's name had previously appeared on any Defense Department "watch list," but a spokesman discouraged news networks from airing video of the Robertson fatwa announcement, fearing his remarks might contain coded instructions for Christian cell groups around the world.

    What I find so amusing is that everyone knows Pat Robertson is a loon. This has been common knowledge since... well... pretty much forever. Yet the media treat his latest nutbar utterance (there have been plenty even nuttier ones) as if it's some huge scandal. Who the fuck cares if some religious fanatic televangelist scamster private citizen thinks Chavez should be "taken out"? How is this in any way shape or form "news"?

    Contrast that with the media's treatment of senior Clinton advisor George Stephanopoulos when he argued (in a Newsweek Magazine column titled "Why We Should Kill Saddam" no less) for the same kind of assassination policy in 1997. The press voiced no objection at all.

    No anti-Bush bias in the mainstream media, uh-uh.

    I'm not sure what your point is here. Investing in America is quite a bit different than supporting the policies of the current administration. I'm investing my financial status in America's college institutions, as well as taking out loans from the Federal Government. Does this make me a supporter of the Bush administration? Somehow I doubt foreign investors are placing their stock in America?s economy to spite drug message boards.
