in honor of the birth of the vampire or the death of the magician..its time we saw a Satanism thread in the philosophy folder yes?
i do not refer to 'devil worship' or whatever the 'average' person thinks satanism is...
i am talking about the philosophy Anton Lavey developed, and the Church of Satan.
there are too many misconceptions surrounding satanists...in fact too many for me to just simply address...instead i will reply to your queries or arguments from a satanic standpoint...so please i welcome all abuse and insults you can aim at Satanism, or any questions or comments concerning this philosophy...i will check back here later tonight or tomorrow to respond to any thoughts you might have...
the basic tenets of satanism include:
Do what thou wilt, thus shall be the whole of the law. (A. Crowley)

If you take Karmic retribution into your own hands, doesn't that render it your own retribution and no longer anything to do with Karma and therefore anything you do to that end will balance against your own Karma?

yes...but the original meaning of karma is duty or action...i, as a satanist see no reason to believe there is any external forces balancing the whole of human mentality at the individual level...that is to say, i no longer believe in karma.

Anton LeVey is a charlatan. He is an atheist who uses Satanism as a moral reason for engaging for in rituals involving group sexual activity. I read his "Bible" once and he is so full of shit it is funny. These guys are such big no-life losers it is ridiculous. The whole setup is fake and totally lame.

semantic answer: the meaning of satan is accuser or adversary, and satan represents opposition to all religions which condemn man for hs natural carnality
LaVey is in many ways a charlatan, though he freely admits to it...he also admits to the power of words..he chose the name satanism to attract and repel people

I tried talking with one of the people who run www.churchofsatan.com... I had some questions. The reply I recieved was either A) completely sarcastic or B) written by a pseudointellectual. I posted about this exchange a few years ago.

Somehow I don't see satanism as a way of bringing unlimited joy into your life and feeling bliss and oneness with the universe.
It's much to active and noisy, has demands and wishes, much like
the avarage human.

i mean, should'nt i doubt satanism so i can be free from it? and should'nt lieing about satanism be ok too? for example, "satanism is a joke religion teenagers would look into to piss off there parents in the late 70's." (or is that true? would it matter to a satanist?)

I'm not an expert on satanism. Still I do agree with alot of what I have read. Not too diferent from most magical groups. Alot of people think Crowley was a loser too. Compared to how most reliqions are practiced I don't have a problem with satanism.

And whats wrong with group sex? :smile:
