Can Bush protesters ever keep their cool? jeez
    #3222841 - 10/06/04 03:07 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

What a disgusting and embarrassing display. I would be so ashamed if those people represented what I thought was right.

Do they have any sense of self control. All they do is scream at republicans in public, not only embarrassing themselves but those around them.

Now they are so out of control with anger they chose to ransack Bush/Cheney Headquarters in Orlando. Im sorry, but destoying someone else's property sends only one message, "you're a criminal".

Quote:

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A group of protestors stormed and then ransacked a Bush-Cheney headquarters building in Orlando, Fla., Tuesday, according to Local 6 News.
Local 6 News reported that several people from the group of 100 Orlando protestors face possible assault charges after the group forced their way inside the Republican headquarters office.

While in the building, some of the protestors drew horns and a mustache on a poster of President George W. Bush and poured piles of letters in the office, according to the report.

"We told them to leave, they broke the law," Republican headquarters volunteer Mike Broom said.

Two protestors received minor injuries when the crowd stormed the building, including a Republican volunteer.

One of the protestors said she wanted to send a message.

"We want to send a clear message to Bush, we want him to take his hands off our overtime pay," protestor Esmeralda Heuilar said.

Local 6 News learned that most of the protestors were from the AFL-CIO and were taking part in one of 20 other coordinated protests around the country.

A spokesperson with the AFL-CIO told Local 6 News that the Orlando protest did not go as planned.

A protest similar to Orlando's demonstration was held at a Bush-Cheney office in Miami at the same approximate time, Local 6 News reported.

Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.

They have a right to be pissed off when kids are getting their heads blown off for Bush.

Do they have a right to break and enter and vandalize because of it?

Your argument is so lame it disgusts me as much as those who committed the crime.

this gives legitimate protesters a bad name. Unfortunatly the loopy left are filled with these types of people who claim everyone else is evil while at the same time causing damage and vandalizing private property. They like to use GWB as their validation.

so let me get this straight, they have the right to violate others rights because you "feel" bush is killing people?

seems to me that goes against everything a protest is supposed to stand for.

Did the protests against the war work? They didn't, when they don't work, people use violence. Republicans should have seen this comming.

civil disobedience is common in protests. ans what do you mean you "feel" bush is killing people? he started a war, he order people to be killed, he ordered people to their death, plain and simple. its really not hard to understand why some people would be this enraged.

You are assuming that these people are protesting that Bush not be reelected? Maybe these people would have more luck if they actually voted instead of storming campaign buildings. They obviously don't believe in the democratic process if they think that protesting against Bush is going to get him out of office.

They're giving other party supporters a bad name.

The people in the video were protesting to keep overtime pay - not to end the war...

Democratic process? Where was the Democratic process during the pre-Iraq months? All that shit was tossed out the window by Bush.

I guess that means that he was some sort of commander-in-chief - usually when a political leaders fucks up as bad as iraq has been presented to be by people like you then he should EASILY be voted out of office. Maybe the protests would have been more effective when we were on the verge of invading Iraq.

The protests weren't effective. Now people are going to use violence even though that doesn't guarantee that he won't get re-elected or that he won't start another war.

I find it sad that you would actually believe this is isolated to one side of the political spectrum:

The only people that are dying are the people who SIGNED UP for the military. I support the troops and I want them home but the reason I didnt join the armed service is because I wouldnt want to be sent to a war that I didnt want to fight. These people signed up with the possibility of going to war. When you sign the contract to join the military it is a legal binding that says you give your rights up to the government and basically become a pawn in their game of chess. So dont be mad at Bush for sending people. Its not like he pulled people off the street. These people agreed that they were willing to go into battle, there are contracts to prove it.

I'm just waiting for Bush to be re-elected and then a full out rebellion to take place within the country when we invade Iran.

That doesn't mean that Bush has the right to use a professional military to start wars from fucking scratch. The people signed up for money for college or just to serve their country. They expect to me sent off to a fabricated war.

If by civil disobedience you mean chants and yelling then sure I have no problem with that if they are peaceful. I guess I can say, using that logic, that the police have the right to knock the living shit out of them if they have a different point of view on the war.

sounds right to me.
