No, we are eternal. Only are personalities, memories, bodies, thoughts, and ideas die .

You know, it's kind of hard to see just what exactly does survive. Maybe eternity is like an endless continium of consciousness experiencing things, but death is still death. You still die in every way you think you do. If you can't even remember the continium, or retain a mind to remember your past life, you might was well disapear into permanent oblivion because there would be nothing and nobody to tell the difference.
I hope it's not like this.

But it is, and it's wonderful. Why fear the truth?

i'm super high, but when i was reading this it felt like you guys are examining consciousness in the same way as if assuming that a computer functions the same way as the atoms that make it up.
like... microscopically examining consciousness doesn't explain the complexity of exsistence's function.

Well consciousness is pure infinite clear light. It is not our personality, our desires, our """needs""", our memories, friends ect. It is pure void, which is the part that survives physical death. This of course is only based on my own experiences, so take it lightly

"The physical world is a brief trap for consciousness"

To belittle what you have now is a huge mistake. It is the attitude of an immortal. Your time is precious and limited..it is all you have now.

There are two quotes by Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi (Radi'Allahu anho) that pertain to man's hidden power to transcend the perceived limits of one's physical ego. 'Love is a furnace, and ego its fuel' - 'There is no salvation for the soul except to fall in love; it has to creepeth and crawleth among the Lovers first.'. The false ego is limited. The false ego dies at physical death. The false ego is mortal. The "huge mistake' is to only see the human (false) ego and overlook the immortal, divine ego. When one discovers the divine ego, they discover that through their divine love\ego that they are in fact immortal, one will see that ego can live an unlimited life. I am immortal, and I am not limited by physics and physical death. The 'I' is bold becaise it pertains to the divine, unlimited ego - not the false ego, which is limited by the flesh. While my time here is precious and limited in the sense that it is my only chance to regard death as a liberation, my existence outside 'time' is eternal, immortal, and does not die. The greatest obstacle in one's way to eternal life is one's own self (P-o-M H.I. Khan).

Yes, and all of our 'I's are ultimately one and the same flowing consciousness. The boundaries are only physically illusioned.

Yes. 'The Lovers are but a veil, a cloth that is one that mixes with God'
