You're not far off, but it isn't that we don't have to do anything about it.  It's more like we can't and won't.

We know:

1. Global warming caused by human activity is harming the planet and our ability to survive thereon.

2. Billions live in poverty.

3. Human suffering is rampant on a global basis.

We do:

Only the bare minimum to feel like we did what we could.

The truth is that it's super easy to find the injustice in the world, but addressing it is another matter.  You know that people are starving, yet you have luxuries.  I don't blame you.  That's what it is to be a human.  If we all pitched in and shared the resources, the world would be a beautiful place, but that's not going to happen.  You're not going to give up your excess and neither am I.  99.999% of people won't.  That's the reality.  Occasionally, you'll find someone who devotes himself to having the bare minimum to leave the rest for the needy.  That's simply not how humans are wired though.

You'll scream how Elon should give up his excess so the disadvantaged can have more, but you won't even consider that you live like a king too in comparison to at least a billion people on this planet.  Yeah, give me the standard, "I'm on board if everyone else is." but you and I both know that everyone else isn't and never will be, so your promise is empty and meaningless.

Again...not a dig on YOU...you're human.  This is what we do.  This is how we live.  The notion that this is going to change based on some law or petition or protest is fundamentally misunderstanding the problem.  The problem is our species.  Once we evolve into another species, maybe things will be different, but that's not gonna happen in the next few thousand years, is it?

As to your absurd claim that "laboring to feed communities (of millions or more (humans and animals) is also our nature as a species,"  I'm gonna need more than your pie-in-the-sky hope on this.  The fact that we don't and haven't is a strong indicator that it's not in our nature.

We can argue about whether we have the capacity to rise above and overcome that nature enough to counteract the harm it causes, but there's no real argument that human nature isn't fundamentally barbaric.

So would not, through policy or action, both which have been taken by humans and will be hopefully done moreso in the future, attempts to more equitably divide resources, be an argument for "rising above" and "overcoming", this innate barbarism?
Even if in some tiny fraction a beginning step(like a tax on billionaires to decrease inequality at home), is that not humans saying that those with less should have more/those with most should have a bit less?
I get any single bit doesnt fix global equity.
But isnt thinking this way, a sign empathy and egalitarian based perspectives are, in fact, existing to overcome the greed based resource hoarding that has become the norm in society?(barbarism)
One push for equity is just as any push for equity, comes from the same place.
And shows some sort of willingness for said equity, even if extending it to global contexts is not the immediate, would it not be the end idea to these actions?
Ie. I like equity
Laws get passed in the usa to level the playing field. Ppl learn to live with less to level the field some more.
As we become more globally connected population, that population can make similar policy/action
At some point forward from here is it really as far fetched as ya make out that changes can be made, colonial powers can wittle away at the damage theyve caused via reparation or general non-usury based support to bring a good portion of the global population some degree of comfort..
All the tech out there, and im more jus looking at simple basic living standard items.. running drinking water, basic healthcare access, a degree of food security.
Not a house and a car and 3 tvs for everyone.
Would you view policy or any actions to divide more equitably, for any population, as a grain in the jar of capacity to rise above or an attempt to begin counteracting human created harm?
I tend to think we keep adding grains to the jar, maybe eventually we will actually be able to grow something with em

I'm the eternal optimist.  I fully believe in finding ways to use whatever pressure is available to nudge people into rising above their barbarism.  I'm all for it. We just have to be realistic and aware that if we do make strides forward, there will be backsliding, too.  People are all for improving things, but once they start noticing that their personal situations may be impacted negatively, then there's gonna be pushback.  If we can boil the frog incrementally, great. I just think we have to be aware that the road there is far longer than a straight line would be.  We also have to be aware that our allies today in such an endeavor will be our enemies tomorrow.  Mutual suffering is a tough sell, particularly in a world where there are no shortages of voices claiming to have the answer.

I’m curious how you reconcile this biological determinism with the concept of free will.

Surely, we can’t nudge anyone or anything if we are all on fixed paths. Any decision any of us will make was decided via some predetermined blend of nature and nurture.

Except, even using your made-up percentage, some humans do! -- does something need the weight of the majority to be considered an aspect of human nature?

Another aspect of human nature: cognitive reflection and second-order intentions -- I notice that I want X, but I actually value Y more, so I'll choose Y -- even if most people choose not to give up their excess, that makes the alternative less common but no less human.

Your appeal to human nature here is, by all appearances, exactly as Lynnch suggested: a defense of a personal decision to do nothing by framing it as a biological certainty -- it's your personal choice on how you live your life, but at least own those decisions instead of pawning them off as the natural choice.

I don't think anything I've said necessitates fixed paths.  The interaction of individual biological entities coexisting on a spinning planet with varying environmental conditions through time pretty much ensures sufficient randomness.  Whether that ultimately leads to a predictable outcome, I don't know, but even within the purest concept of free will, hindsight will always lead to a fixed path, ultimately.

I'm not even really talking about biological determination on an individual basis anyway.  A person can completely go against human nature.  People, on the other hand....can't and won't.  Nothing we're talking about here today are issues that are created, or can be solved, by an individual person anyway.  We're talking about the aggregate conduct of humans on the planet.

Again...this hasn't been about the individuals.  This is about the aggregate.  As an individual, I have probably done more than most to reduce human suffering on the planet.  Have I done everything I can?  Nope.  Have you?  Nope.  We can argue about what is the proper level for each of us as individuals, but I'm not really talking about that.  I'm talking about the aggregate of human conduct.

I'm not sure what distinction you're trying to make between policy and conduct here.  Policy is only meaningful insofar as it affects conduct. Policy itself can't help or harm anyone.  It's the conduct in furtherance of policy that ultimately affects the physical reality around us.  Without that, policy is nothing more than an idea.

If I have a policy of hoarding all the food in my region, that's not gonna harm anyone.  If, however, I hoard all the food in my region, that's gonna be a problem.

Conduct in furtherance of policy sounds like implementing whatever policy is decided.

Policy is a direction, and conduct is going in that direction..

So policy orientates what the conduct is.

Im fairly certain that incremental, would be the only way about this. Each generation will change and already is changing in its needs and expectations, morality, understanding, this makes incremental pull backs a bit easier over time imo. Every large hard path/problem is a slow grind a bit of push and pull to be sure. Certainly not a reason to think it cannot be facilitated.
But time is the key issue. I think we prob should have been working incrementally yesterday, and we arent even that very close(depends how fast one ages i guess) to beginning.
Suffering is a tough sell, looking around at americans rhrn especially. These ppl are so goddamned comfortable, obese, lazy, generally ignorant, and distracted.
So much so as i look at the "suffering" these folks would have to endure at the outset of these changes, its laughable a bit, they prolly fucking need it and the discipline.
First shit to go where nobody really loses out but would upset these ppl:
Lost access to red meat no more than 2x a week (unless you grew it)
Recycle or be treated as outcast
Must carpool or electric car or public transit(average american household owns 3 cars on avg iirc)
Treat homeless ppl with dignity
Just some ways i see consumption being reduced , which i guess is what you are referring to as suffering generally.
.
AHH THE SUFFERING!!!
Im jus an asshole ofc nd these are just some playful ideas i could see to better interact with the world. Im sure more serious ones could be had that would really upset the populace. But we should just take that slow. Maybe next gen, wont desire as much materially and would rather give back to humankind and the thing that keeps us alive, da earf

Problem is suffering is a result of existence.  Since the middle 1800s we as species mined ancient fossil beds that took millions of years to build for fertilizer.  Just enough to barely feed people living currently.  Even if you build a dictatorship that controls people and there diets at somepoint we have to genocide the population to stable planetary habitat levels.

Policy of helping other places over population when they can't stabilize just leads to more people suffering there.

You used the word barbaric.
If human nature is barbarism, then how the fuck did we build any of this? If that were true we wouldn't be having this conversation.

It's not pie-in-the-sky, we do feed millions and millions and millions and millions and millions of people every day. How did you eat today? You didn't grow your own dinner. WE did, collectively.

What is Elons wealth? Did he physically hoard the food of a trillion people?
No. He won a trillion casino chips by betting a hundred billion casino chips. It's made up.
The food you ate today is a real thing that people touched to give you.

You seem to think if I plant my field with enough trees to feed my family, the only way to feed another family is to have my family starve. Why?

We've been planting extra trees for thousands of years. Only in the last couple hundred years or so the casino chips became more important.

...

Maybe I'm just a selfish piece of trash motivated by self-interest and a desire for individual advancement at the cost of others.. but I don't think we gain anything by being cynical and self-hating. We do bad, we make up for it. You can give up or you can try to push a bit when you can.

Yes collectively we do put food to the table destroy our resources . You can't plant trees to make the problem go away as those trees still need the minerals in fertilizer to function and feed people.  We also collectively choice to ignore a whole massive city be slaughtered in Sudan even though a modern middle power like french could have prevented it. We are monsters,  we have limited resources on this planet.  We hate trump because he shows us the depth of our collective depravity.

What would be your policy solution. To fix the problem,  how much aid per person are you dollying out? What protection is offered to make peace successful, and feed everyone "without" taking it away from other people?

Interesting story about a contestant in a Trump administration sponsored “civics” contest where the apparent winner ended up in fourth place and was denied a scholarship and White House visit. Lack of transparency on scoring has led to suspicion that the results were massaged to avoid the optics of this guy winning:
