Re: The official Psilocybe natalensis/ ochraceocentrata thread. [Re: Pastywhyte]

well, i'm talking about the fairly new species psilocybe ochraceocentrata. there aren't so many reliable reports on this species, as it was confused with natalensis or cubes before. so there's a lot of noise, and a small amount of trustworthy reports. i think is already specific enough to ask about this specie.

posting grow pics is good and cool, but it simply doesn't clarify anything. let's say you see a muscular guy in the gym, you find his results very cool, but you can't know his diet, training or lifestyle, unless you ask. and that's what i'm doing here, asking.

if i am the "muscular guy" i used in this example, then i don't need to keep asking anything, as i already have my own "training schedule" and my own results, which apply to my reality. so i don't like this idea of growing first, asking later. as if i'm already successful in my grows, why would i have the need to get help here? i will continue to do what i already do, that is what applies to my reality.

i think everyone here is also an adult and can speak for themselves if they don't find something good or reasonable, and i will also answer it properly if i find it reasonable or not.

and about posting two or more times, what the rules say is not to "post spam" or something. i'm answering two people and three different subjects here. so i'm not spamming anything.

My guy u just planely stated there's alot of noise because of this false  iding in the past U might have better and more useable information spending 3 months actually culting them. Best of luck.

well, i stated that in the past this was true. nowadays some of this noise is gone. the point is, most of the knowledge was in the past, the past where the noise and confusion existed.

another stuff is like i said in the past comment, most guys here only post grow pics, but never reports, experience, detailed insights etc.

i also don't know why *some* people here show so much animosity toward me asking about their experiences, even though this forum is specifically for that, lol. sharing knowledge, experience, and thoughts about shrooms.

it also never fails to be funny to me how people think everyone has access to all shroom species in the world, and can spend all their time and money on that. there are tons of guides here trying to make shroom cultivation as accessible as possible, but there are guys that simply fail to realize that shroom growing should be accessible, even knowing that shrooms are illegal in most countries and that some species only grow in specific parts of the world.

not everyone will find easily and cheaply a species that originated in another country, friend. and not everyone would try 100 different species to find "which one is the one i like".

Don't think you understand how a mailing system works. And not trying to be hostile. I'm trying to cult everything n make hybrids of the ones I like n also cultivate fungi of various types around the world. Though hey good luck man still think you should be putting more time in on cultivation requirements for them than all this other stuff.

Get down the basics yk and what I mean by you don't understand the mailing system is if u can receive mail then u can probably receive any type of fungi genetics for free as long as you have some cultivation skills and are a cool person or contribute to the scene or at least make a effort to  and ask nicely :begger: (thank you kind folks i owe ya n will pay it forward)

I live in Brazil. Most people wouldn't ship for here, even less for free. Even if they did, I would have to pay taxes in customs. What sometimes can be even more expensive than buying here already.

It could also cause legal problems for me if they discovered what it is on customs.

So is not good to assume everyone has the same situation as you. This forum here have people from all over the world in several different situations.

It costs very little for me to mail an envelope to Brazil. Do the charge you to receive a standard envelope?

Did some research.

Nope, zero taxes if it is just paper and nothing more. If there's zero aluminum foil its hard to get detected in x-ray either.

So yes, if it is a regular paper envelope, high chances it passes. I just get a little apprehensive in getting caught up in customs.

I also think that doing spores to รกgar, then liquid culture is probably almost the same price as buying a 10ml liquid culture anyway. So i don't know...

To each they own. Agar costs 5$ lme costs 5$ syringes cheap spore prints free. Plates or containers cost at first. Lc from vendors might? Be clean though your practically relying on someone else for the biggest hurdle of cult. Best way I can put it is ur counting ur chickens before the eggs.  Eggs might be rotten n u paying 2xmore for it n waiting just as long or longer to find out. Start from basic cultivation from scratch and do it proper and you can't go wrong or risk it and rely on someone else who can fuck up and can also have a bad day. Be independent of pre packaged "sterilize required" stuff and you will have higher success in my opinion.

And I started with uncle bens my guy. When I say start from scratch and do it right I'm telling you from my past failures and the many attempts to get where I'm at do it right and evin better do it urself  mush love.

P.s most lc or isolations are 20/30$ with potential + shipping that I've found so it's literally cheaper faster more likely for success and same time probably more opsec to just get spores

@pickle_jars

that has been interesting to me this morn, your positing Transkei as Ochra, over time on here I've seen several people (first coming to mind Logical_Chaos) describing the (in retrospect, Ochra style?) effects of S A Transkei as their fave, but had never put 2+2 together about the name/locale or it being mislabelled Ochra as NSS (my first ochra was an mss labeld "Natal Super Strength".)
:botgirl:
Gotta germ some ochras now I've never eaten them in a few years, shockingly since they were such a favourite for a while...

Thinking back fondly, fresh Ochras & meditation repeatedly had me in a vast, jewel like/crystaline spaces with carnivalesque curiosity & qualities to it. Very immersive, there was something thrumming and prismatic effect to the edges, all alive and recursive, and this carried to some very ethereal OEV when dabbin or vaping weed.

Some of the spaces, brought to mind the artwork of Robert Venosa (which I love):

I remember once, watching Stranger Things (weird how they stopped S T at season 4, and that 5 NEVER HAPPENED, right? RIGHT?!) with my gf, and as "California Dreamin" by beach boys was playing I could percieve these, silvery lavender light strings as I was dancing.
:trippinbawelz:
I think it was 45 fresh, they were strong mushroms thinking back.

But I always got insane overlay:

hmmmm. I hadn't  heard of this before.

IIRC cubensis is generally ~adnexed and ochras are decurrent subdecurrent (ty lithop), which should at least narrow the possibilities (were someone to have an appropriate transkei pic, which I've yet to find).

Edit:

One article summarizing a paper mentions transkei alongside NSS as part of the ochra discovery release. The actual paper, however, makes no mention of transkei in any spelling (but does have tons of NSS/natalensis stuff). PDF attached with article followed by paper.

I'm still hunting a genuinely good picture, but the more I see, the more I lean cube, based on both cap coloration and gill attachment.

@Ras just for note, the ochra gill is subdecurrant.

I'm not fully sold on all labelled Transkei being Ochra, rather it just interested me.
Have a look at this pic:

I could see some ochra lookin shit going on in that front left tray, morphology wise. Even compared to the right hand tray. Of course we can't see the gills.

Some other threads, and pics on duckduckgo etc show the odd glimpse that some definite 'ochre centred' are among transkei.

https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/1837917#1837917

Combine with the odd tidbit of someone mentioning the different trip quality, keeps me curious.

:mushroom2:Transkei is a cube.:mushroom2:

IMO lol

There's a good list here of ochra vs. nat traits.

...

Edit: Piggybacking on your question, has there been any follow-up on whether Transkei is actually an ochra or cubensis (or something more nuanced)? I thought I saw something about Alan doing genetic testing and/or Yoshi's patreon had a post about it, but when I came back later to possibly join the patreon was gone. Is it like "Natal Super Strength", in that it was distributed as a cube but later testing showed it was actually an ochra all along? This Transkei description sounds like it could be an ochra (overlaying, potency, the first picture) but I've seen a pretty wide range of phenos in the bit of Transkei I've grown and some seemed more ochra-like, some more cube-like.

@Rev on the off chance you see this, the gill attachment is missing from that list and would be useful for macro ID.

@pickle_jar
Okay here we go I'm the right drugs for this lol.

there's a good number of pics in this thread, including this one. There's also this thread.

Based on gill attachment and cap color, I feel pretty confident calling it in favor of cube based on that picture. Or at least not any kind of ochra. If the sequencing says it's new, hell yeah, but til then, cube.

This thread has a number of pics from both german kahuna and whereismymind showing significantly more ochra-flavored appearance. Given pics like this, I 100% understand the confusion. But that look is B+ adjacent as well, etc. Based on gill attachment, still a cube.

Just my opinion, loud annoying text is for the search results. But I'd put money on cube.

edit: @lithop ty, well noted :hatsoff: updated the post

Like many, I get the ick off "heroic" dose terminology, but yeah they were certainly a solid psilo shot, a lot of mandatory eyemask in those trips.
And fuck yeah Venosa's style is fantastic.

also, lol
