Hey Cron, what's up with your last pic? Is that an agar pic or is it a jar that was cased and colonized? Looks like the casing is showing on the right, correct? If so, why did you colonize the casing instead of moving straight to fruiting like I see with most varieties other than cubes?
just before being cased

So I'm going to spawn the one jar that isn't producing much in the morning. Cron, do you think I can get away with straw/coir cased with untreated coir for this galindoi jar or should I get some hpoo and some jiffy?

No wonder my Chicon Nindo only produced a few fruits. I made a modified hpoo substrate but it had grass seed in it.
Good information. Now I'm glad I didn't try to spawn to hpoo and just cased the leftover whole brown rice that I just harvested
Don't know why I was thinking they were dung lovers.

Well, stonesun had it in his writeup that dung would produce better results. I had and have seen plenty of straight coir tubs that performed just as well as his trays. I've also had and seen plenty of tubs not put out a single fruit after months. I've really been trying to figure out why a lot of people have had problems fruiting galindoi, specifically.
Can you tell me how deep your substrate was, wetness/dryness of substrate, spawn ratio, time spent colonizing, etc.? I think I am on to something that will provide more reliable results, but I need more data.

My Chicon was just an experiment. I had some leftover substrate so I decided to put it into a Ziplock container (the medium sized ones with the screw on lids) and innoced with liquid innoculant. Colonization was normal speed.
Then I cased with jiffy mix.
I just thought it didn't do too great because I had an outbreak of fungus gnats.
I got about 10 fruits from it though.

Alright. I'm about to pasteurize a half gallon of straw/coir low and slow. Gonna do a mini mono, and I'm gonna spawn it in front of the hood with gloves on. I've been talking to azur a bit about running lower pasteurization temps. I think it will greatly reduce the chances of trich, but we'll see. All summer I was getting trich on pretty much every tub after the first flush and I know my spawn was clean. Hopefully a 2 hour 135-145f pasteurization will make the substrate a little less appealing to trich.

Looking good grey! I just spawned my ATL7 mini mono. Pasteurized the straw/coir at 145 for 2 hours. The stone production in that jar was seriously lacking, so hopefully it will fruit well. If this thing fruits nicely I'll do a print giveaway.

Nice. Last time I tried fruiting ATL7 nothing happened but I think the culture was pretty weak. This new culture is from an invitro stone that grew on a refrigerated plate. It seems to be really healthy. I've heard that the trip from galindoi fruits is incredible.
