Don't some of them have black caps? There's a bit of black on these. Either these are ochras or a well regarded spore supplier is selling mislabeled syringes.

It wouldn't be the first time  And I have to agree, doesn't look like ochra to me neither.

Here's some of the ochra I fruited.

The gills. They don't seem as uniform as the cubes I've grown.

I've just eaten a decent sized one so will soon know the potency. The flavour was a bit milder to what I'm used to.

Well it's mushrooms they can do weird things sometimes.

Check these two papuana gills.

The caps on those look similar to mine. The ones with darker centers. Are you suggesting that these are normal cubes? Do you have any images of cubes that look like these?

Anyway they're noticeably stronger than cubes so I'm happy regardless of what they are.

I mean it could be ochra you have, the two in the middle kind of look like ochras. And we don't know what the vendor did to the culture before releasing it so it could just be that the vendors have their own unique culture of ochra.

But yeah they look like regular brown cubes for the most part, to be fair the conditions in the bag are pretty dry and that could change how they look too, so the big one on the right looks like a regular brown cube and it doesn't look as dry as the two in the middle that looks more like ochra. All the smaller mushrooms in your bag look way darker then any ochra I've ever seen.

Regular brown cube.

I have seen green cap and black cap variations of Ochra, seems like there is plenty of variety to choose from with this one, and definitely a difference in "the ride".

Yeah, that's why I said we don't know what the vendor might have done to their ochra culture, like did you see 3.A.M's PE Ochra 👀

I have seen people crossing Ochras and cubes, it's happening, but yeah, years ago I dealt with plenty of mislabeled syringes, every Pan strain dude sent me was a Tamp, at first upset, since it wasn't Pans, but I learned plenty from Tamps, and I enjoy sclerotia on the micro level as well.  A blessing in disguise you could say, for sure, but didn't satisfy my Pan craving at the time.  All good, Live and Learn they say, we should be... everyday!

Might be my last Ochra grow in a while.

Got this guy as a plin. Would be nice to actually have that pheno show up.

I've let plates go in the past, hoping for a plin, but never got one. This glass ochra plate unwrapped, slated for disposal, produced one. I threw it on an agar trench plate, to play with later!

Wish I could beam over my plate. I don’t ever plan on growing them again. The high is not consistent or the type that I like so I’m going back to my old favorites.

Somehow they look very similar to how mine turned out :strokebeard:

Did you scrape off the overlay at any point? The pic above was scraped, MF came back with a vengeance

It's your genetics, so they are maybe brothers?

That tub got scraped twice! They overlay like crazy, really fascinating how fast they grow and colonize!

This one got a light scrape once

Nice, I recently revived a culture from cryo vial, I want to run them in a dreamer, see if it's the same story with overlay there :strokebeard:

You know, I’d have to say that thick puffy clouds of mycelium are not ideally what you are looking for it is pretty prominent with this strain, but they do grow a lot better when you can get cultures that aren’t like that

If you look at this cake, you’ll notice that it’s nowhere as much overlay as all the rest of the others that grow in tubs I think it has a lot to do with fresh air intake as these were grown in the greenhouse and I’ve never seen it

That's pretty standard for Ochras... The thick overlay can be a pain in the fucking ass to deal with, you scrape it off, turn your back around to put the fork down and BAM Mrs. Ochra smashes her thicc thighs in your face:awesome:

Seriously it's fucking insane sometimes
