Yeah, I'm good, starting to come around after some minor setbacks, stupid mental health :muppet::lol: You good?

I am using MP tape so it's not completely sealed, but definitely too little FAE.

I don't know if they were gnats or fruit fly type of flies or what, but they sure liked to squat my tubs. :mad2:
Have not seen any of them for a while now, so it looks like I got the problem under control:grin:

 Seems we had the same life flow lately, just coming out of a lame mental health fog myself  Got a good tray of Bispo so that dragged my head out my ass and feeling better :muppet:

Well, I'm going with fruit flies as that is less scary, gnats or fruit flies, a couple of months now and they'll all be frozen and dead

Ahh, yes, looking forward to easter! Nice you had a good trip, have not had the chance to try the Bispos yet, but they are on the todo list:smile::rockon:

Are these gills connecting to the stipe like an Ochra? I was looking at the gills on my mislabeled Super APE and they look like subdecurrent gills to me, but I’m still learning and could be way off!!

These were a free LC labeled “super APE”

I’m thinking they might be a Cube Ochra cross like NSS they pin just like cubes but similar like Ochra’s with the white and yellow cap. The gills are for sure attached to the stipe after looking at some dried fruits. What really did it was me realizing I threw away the first tub after first flush because I thought I got mold, but it bruises green. That’s pretty sick and won’t throw out the milk carton I ran because I “cleaned up” the plate . They were really aggressive in colonizing and fruiting. The stipes are much more firm than some of my cubes.
Also the only time I have had 0 issues using LC. I’m an G2G and A2G guy. About to start some PF tek for cake wars.

Pins

Fruit

I took 6 prints from this batch and cloned a couple fruit that lacked the dark pigment. Not like albino, but more off-white cream colored caps very different than the rest.

I have a tub of another clone culture labeled “super nat” I’m curious how similar it will be?

Anyone wanna throw some education my way? Tell me to stop googling shit? Maybe I’m close? Idk I’m glad I never finished ordering an Ochra spore print. Thanks!

These are from spores, I think the really blue capped ones warrant a clone  Only a small yield for the first flush, but quite happy for a first ever go! There was pretty thick overlay originally, but it soon calmed down when pins started.

Honestly I agree with huskies. The caps also definitely look way more Cubensis than ochraceocentrata and if I'm not mistaken people have grown "APE" but ended up with standard looking cubes even though the spores came from an APE and they're known as APER (R for revert). They don't look like Ochras, these are som examples of how they can look like. See how they're almost white with an ochre center? Yours are more evenly brown. Also there isn't much overlay on your sub which is something I and many more experience when dealing with Ochras.

They can also look more like this but you still see they're the same species and not very similar to yours

Also NSS is not a cube/ Ochraceocentrata cross it's just Ochras which were mislabelled as Natal super strength when people thought they were another closely related species (Natalensis)

Today’s harvest are the greenest ochras I’ve ever grown, the color is more intense irl than in the photos.

This is my Ochra grow. Spores sold as Natal Super Strength. I inoculated this 2kg grow bag in April and it's been colonising very slowly in an unheated space in a temperate climate. It's a good one made with millet, milo grain and CVG.

It took about ten days to start developing primordia once I put it to fruit. No problem with overlay or anything like that. I wonder if the slow low temperature colonisation may have helped. This is only my second grow and my first one with Z-strain did very well having colonised in the same conditions.

I've circled a mushroom that seems to be growing out of the plastic rather than the substrate. I gather Orcha mycelium has a habit of climbing chamber walls so perhaps that's what's happening here. Also I've found that they smell different from my z-strain cubes. Less earthy and slightly sweet. I find myself wondering if they'll taste different.

That’s a straight up cube that you have going on. If you get an ochra culture, you’ll see what climbing the walls looks like, it’s way more overt with mycelium going up 2 inches over the substrate surface, and you’ll most likely see some overlay on the surface as well.

All your growth is on the sides of the bag and you can get better flushes if you can keep water droplets all over the top surface of your sub once it gets colonized. So keep an eye out for that and you’ll get more out of your bags.

I wonder if you’ve been opening the bags to give them more air, leading to the surface drying out?

Other than that the pins look healthy so you should get some good fruits out of them.

Damn I must have mixed my bags up. This must be PE6 and the one I just put into fruiting must be the NSS. Thanks for the tips.

I've been misting the sides of the bag rather than directly onto the mycelium and have the top half closed with a paperclip leaving a slit for airflow. I'll try missing the mycelium instead.

I might be wrong but your ochras may not be getting adequate FAE or light. Do they always look so long and twisted?

Spaghetti dude! 😎 If you ask me, this is how ochras should look indoors. But yeah if you wanna fuck around with them a lot, you can get them to stand up straight but why bother. I like the uniqueness of them like this

When I grow them in a tote, they look exactly like this but when I grow them in my Martha, they look just like normal mushrooms so it’s probably 90% lack of fresh air

In a tote

In the greenhouse

Both of these came from the same culture on the same plate

I had to stack boxes on top of each other and with ochras i usually use the lid to give them some extra fae, so they definitely wanted more air. The one box that I was able to open up the lid slightly grew straight up and shorter fruits.

Never seen PE6 but these still look like cubes to me, check out the gill attachments when you harvest them as that’s a pretty clear sign.

Take a look at what I told Joetherapist about APE revert Here

I'm pretty certain Lyle is correct about the fact that it's a cube and if it's a PE variety it probably reverted which isn't extremely uncommon. The colour is way off, Ochras aren't that brown all over the caps. These are almost definitely cubes, I'd be very surprised if they turn out to be another species.

Something worth nothing though. Decurrent gills are not a unique trait of Ochras which is something I realized the other day after Bamboozling myself with some Cubensis x7x Here. I thought I mixed the plates or jars up but apparently x7x also has deccurent gills so I wouldn't trust the gills only because cubes can also have deccurent gills. Nevertheless your mushrooms are most likely cubes, they do not resemble Ochras much at all imo.

Yeah PE6 was i think PE mixed with Texas orange cap and was accidentally released way too early and then reverted pretty quick and it’s just been a typical cube since.
