I never do much in the way of exotics. But I really liked how my zaps turned out. Fuckers were insanely potent. Here is an old pic but one I’m proud of.

Am I right in thinking that zaps are near identical to aucklandii genetically?

If so, would the technique be the same?

I hope to find some wild speciemins this year if yall want to compare . . .

What is aucklandii? Is it a German mushroom?

Jake, are you going to fruit those zaps using that set up you were trying for azures?

Don't zaps like high humidity and lower temps? I'm still collecting notes and formulating
my initial strategy....which for now is "wait until after summer when it cools down a bit"

When u decide to try run libs consider colonizing your subs in sterile bags, they are not a fast colonizer so pastuerizing is difficult.

half of every new exotic I run is being done in sterile bags. start broad so I can best identify optimal grow preferences for each one.

but yes I have grow lib caps invitro in bags semi successfully before I will replicate but I also would like to try and develop a more effective tek

I like colonizing in bags then moving to tubs and casing, they love fresh air.( sidenote they also do decent around 70 degrees:wink:)
Nice thread man keep up the good work

Yup I don’t tho k you can ever get as big a flush invitro as you could otherwise but yeah open tray canopy is my goal for each exotic. The neoxpensis Really has me impressed I am pretty confident it will be calm as popular as tamps as soon as I get the genetics distributed so far it flies are crossed agar and grain unless it gives me a super difficult time fruiting it should be a slamdunk I can’t imagine it would given its other growth patterns and the information I have gotten from Alan

P.s  congratulations on the TC tag  asura!!!! You’ve earned it!

Yay, I get a turn at growing others knowledge.
P.aucklandii

P.Aucklandii are stoopidly strong fresh (3 for a first trip of the season), and pretty much only grow around Auckland, New Zealand. Apparently almost identical to P.Zapotecorum genetically, though @Inski seems to be the only one to successfully cultivate.

Sounds like a throw down to me :gangsta:

These were not really spawned to bulk in the traditional sense. Sub composition is oak sawdust supplemented with wheat. I also cased it with coir verm.

Hell yeah! I’ve got a few different wood recipes I’ve lost 2 of those already, I don’t believe that the zaps necessarily require wood, as I’ve seen other non wood grows. I’m excited to try them on sugar cane (if I ever receive it) but I think straw may be the key to getting em indoors, of course I’m just now getting to fruiting them so that’s just my speculation lol. I have a feeling the zaps are gonna take a while to hammer down.... but I have the neoxpensis and a few other super rare’s from Alan that I believe will be relatively quick and easy to grow! And a good bit stronger than cubes
