Yes, it will work but take slightly longer. Mycelium can stretch out over quite some distance. You can also cut like a 'big' rectangle or circle, land your wedge in the middle, then carefully shove it more to a corner or side. If you're unsure about your movements. It just has to bridge a gap, the gap does not have to be equally spaced. Grab the first myc that bridges.

Do you have a grow light for your shrooms? That's what I use 6500k temp so nice and bright/white. Or maybe a really strong flashlight/headlamp?

I use the same. 6500 k LED tube light panels (the cheaper tubes also work).
12 hours on and 12 hours off. Don't need "grow lights", which cost more and often have other colors you don't need. Mine are "video lights."

They have two light color settings and a dimmer know, I put mine on 6500 and full brightness, but over a foot above the substrate.

That light temp and whiteness is also great for reading Miraculix shroom potency tests if you don't have the Colorimeter, according to the company.

"isolated strains" from taking transfers (along with the related b.s. "monocultures") is old, wrong info. Just try to get transfers from healthy spots.

Curious where you read that, was it an old book by Stamets?

I don't have a problem with the uneven growth. Some would say take another transfer, from the right side.

Except for that left top part, which I don't see as contam, this looks really good to me.

You can take much smaller transfers than that near square inch. Smaller is less likely to bring some contam over. You can do as small as size of a grain of rice.

I would like to see a back lit photo of that upper left, before recommending two separate transfers one each (left/right) and see how they perform compared to the other.
