Looking to get out on the harvest after this little cold snap.

Flushing hard just now with the cold and rain. I’ve picked more in the last few weeks than my previous two years combined

Anyone had any luck in the West Midlands? I've been out for weeks now and seen fuck all, just a few identifiers here and there.

I'm still looking too, no joy. That said I'm a relative newbie and have never found a good spot local to me the last few years of trying. Had some good luck in Devon & Dartmoor last week, so had a few scouts locally this week now I've hopefully got my eue in, still nout though. Thinking another trip further afield is needed while I can and will have to just keep looking locally as the temps drop further.

Just around 150m, looking in very wet long grass. Found 60ish in around 4 hours Sunday, which is the best I've done so far. Going to venture out for more remote spots soon, I feel like I'm missing mushrooms in clusters because I'm rushing to look with people around

Ok thanks for reply. My town is about 115m so not far off you, suppose enough to make a difference. I'll keep try and look for some new spots.

Yeah totally get you with the rushing and people being around, Dartmoor was blissful last week, the clouds decended  so noone could see me even if they did have binoculars. Happy hunting and stay safe 🙂

Loving all the finds guys, followed this thread for awhile and it's inspired me to do some hunting myself! Is anyone able to help with some ID?

Found east coast Scotland (Dundee) in a field with livestock at a fair altitude (guessing more than 150m). Some of them look like they might have just opened out a bit but I'm not entirely sure. I'm feeling like some of these are libs.

As a Shroomery/mushroom hunting noob any guidance would be hot

Pretty sure most aren't sorry. A few I would look closer at that I think could be, but also might not, hard to tell from the pic. I'm also a noob so let someone else chip in.

Good thread here, don't be discouraged, has taken me a few years, took the first ones I've harvested myself yesterday, was worth the effort. And do get a confirmed id from someone trusted before doing anything with them. Laying them out on paper with numbers helps people reference them.

Edit: meant to include this handy thread

number them and start an ID thread

also tissue isn't best material for drying them on - too much stick

good luck with ID and happy hunting

Another good 2hrs after work today, 300m elevation, with cold snap tonight here's to hoping freezing level stays above 300, as this is my go to place, will try afew coastal areas tomorrow maybe as it's cold and sunny all day, got to love the Lake District!!

Also, anyone any tips for maggots? Got some popping up, would like to attract them out the mushrooms rather than them eating my product and getting high on my supply! Is that possible? Maybe some sort of food in the middle that they would leave the drying mushrooms for? Help please!! Sick of picking the things out of them

Meant to smash into Ireland by Afternoon Thursday , it weakens as it then makes it way across Wales.... it shouldn’t effect them because temperatures remain cool whilst adding more rain across country

Pic 1 - no libs
Pic 2 - counting from the left, numbers 1 & 7 are good, rest aren't libs
Pic 3 - potentially 4 & 6 but I'm not convinced
Pic 4 - 2, 4, 5, 7, 11 & 14
Pic 5 - none at far as I can tell

Please also wait for someone else to confirm.

Conditions are perfect today in Leeds. Had a lot of rain and been quite cold the last few days. Today is fairly cold but no rain and the sun is out. Going to hop on the push iron and make my way down Otley road on the way to the Yorkshire Dale's whilst keeping my eyes out for some decent fields. Wish me luck 🍄

Went out hunting for the first my first time yesterday (yorkshire moors). Can anyone confirm that these are libs please? It was raining quite a lot, so they were quite dark when picking them. Theres a few I looked at when I got home that I wasn't too certain about, but all of them picked were from the same south west facing slope on the moors, typically growing in clusters very close to each other. Last image is after about 3-4 hours of drying with a heated fan nearby. Thanks!

The first pic in the field shows two nice libs (Centre of the image and just below to the right).

Hard to accurately tell from the other pictures. You would be best off starting an ID thread, lay them out, number them and take more clear pictures.

But... They mostly look good to me.

Thanks for the quick reply! I threw out a handful that I wasn't certain about just to be safe, all the ones left have definite nipples and had a viscid membrane that made them a little tricky to get cleanly off the kitchen roll! Found loads of babies up there too, so with any luck they'll reach maturity over the next week

No Problem.
Yeah i had the same issue with tin foil, but i've got some non-stick paper now.
Good practice leaving the pins. I do try to only pick ones that have sporulated and have the purple ring around the base of the Pileus. My picking partners aren't as reserved

If only! Probably about 1000 of them. Not that libs grow on that kinda terrain but pretty impressive nevertheless.
