Ok here they are found em in a field a very dewy field. in Pacific Coast (west coast of canada) British columbia JUST ABOVE Washington.

Im pretty sure they are active. But not 100%

Stem breaks if i try to wrap around finger.
Trying to get a spore print but nothing showing up yet.
temp and weather perfect for liberty cap season...

Nice photos. They are not active. They will almost certainly produce a white spore print.

Your mushrooms are similar to Mycena capillaripes. To identify to species accurately we would need to know the odor (if any) and examine the spores under a microscope.

Ok well, tommorow me and my girlfriend are going on a little road trip to a field that produced many libs last year. Apparently people have allready been up there and found little to nothing because they said "this year they are sleeping" ??? i dunno but im going to see for myself - crossing my fingers, and it has been raining non stop for about 4 days now. But ya... i'll pick as many as I can find and post lots of pictures!

they were found on wild / sub grass. Kinda wild but in the subdivision i live in...Just beside a yard on the edge of a short grass field. Does that make sense?

Hey Gumby, I found some while walking today in a lawn.. They looked close to those, except the caps were a lot darker, and the gills were greyish... I'd post a picture to go along with em, but I have no digital camera at the moment.

I'm taking a spore print at the moment. Does this sound like it could be active (Lib Caps maybe)?

If so, what are some things I could look for to verify/disprove my theory?


I know this sounds pretty amaturish, but... I'm trying to learn! Thanks
By the way, after searching through the Safe-Pik Mushroom guide I found this picture that looks almost identical to the ones I found... The gills are a lightish grey though... I don't know if they really fit the description. I dunno, just trying, here she is.
