Turned out to be a pretty damn decent enigma shoebox.

Makes me regret only making one shoebox. These things are SLOW.

For tonight’s tasting menu we have some FP+ and then two different Maketi clones. Dick Keti Clone and Giant Short Fat Keti Clone. The GSFK is coming out in clusters. On the sides. Oof. DKC is killing it. Snuck that last picture in there. Need a tent. Hope she’s a she. Anyways. Love y’all. Keep on being amazing and inspirational!

Also spawned some Enigma (and a few other things):

That x7x+ is from a multispore culture (from a T2 I think). It dropped an incredible amount of spores (it was one that was almost ready when I left), and it came in at 412 g wet (cubensis usually dries to 7% for me, for reference).
..
Thanks for the print, nektar! I did not try to print these, mostly because I was way too tired, but it was also just a huge mess of wet spores and overmature mushrooms....I put that tub back in case it has a few more left for a second flush, which I'll probably print and share....
I'll take these out of the dehydrator tomorrow and report what they dried to.

You're welcome. And that would be great if you did a giveaway from these. I was hoping someone would soon. DM me if you need stamps. I'd donate up to 20 if you want.  Sometimes second flush has even bigger caps, and they still have black soot spore prints.

Some of my prints were so big and dark I split them up into 4 (or even 8 in one case) giveaways, and everyone still got enough.

When they splort, you can wipe the top of the caps with swabs and give those away too. I dry them (and prints) in front of my flowhood for an hour, but I've heard they can be dried in a closed SAB too.

I gave away 25 spore prints or part of prints, but the last 5 or so after I ran out I gave away swabs made like that. I also gave some away to friends in person, and a few people before the giveaway.

Plus I saved 4 more for the people who invariably DM and say "Oh, I missed your giveaway, do you have any left?" They all got swabs.

You're the first person to grow some that looked like classic x7x+ to me. (Besides Smelly, who had some before the giveaway)

The guy who made x7x (user name: x7x_x7x, someone else named his spores after him) grew a canopy of x7x+ from my giveaway, but he grew on dirt in a terrarium, so was a canopy of small shrooms.

I did mention in the giveaway that those from swabbing the top might be dirty since they were taken that way, but the swabs (and prints) have all been clean as far as I have heard.

The only person who's said his got contammed was a guy who made LC without an SAB or flowhood (!) That's the guy who posted an anemic grow of x7x+ and seemed to wonder why his didn't look like mine.

This is SmellyHobbit's first x7x+ shoebox from the print I sent him.

Rationally, I know a swab of the top of a spore-covered mushroom would be fine for streaking on agar, but I'm still paranoid about including too many mold spores or bacteria. I'm also pretty particular about using a single piece of foil for printing and folding, which precludes cutting them up...but yeah, it's probably the least efficient way to proliferate spores. I'll hopefully get a few (likely large) prints out of the second flush, and I'll have plenty of mushrooms to print when I run shoeboxes of the clone.

No need for stamps, but thanks for the offer! (What I really need is more time to do all of the things I love in addition to the work that pays well. Or to give employment the finger...one day.)

Anyway, the 412 g of fresh x7x+ dried to 26.8 g, or 6.5%. For comparison, the RW revert dried to 8.2% (less water than usual for that clone), Jack Frost to 8.5%, Casper (which was super spongy) to 6.8%. So anecdotally x7x+ does seem to have a bit higher water content...though I got 6.7% on both flushes from my last two Golden Teacher clone shoeboxes, and 6.5-6.8% from various RustyWhyte clone shoeboxes earlier this year. I'd guess that environmental factors and genetics have comparable effects on water content.

My first grow was underwhelming and wasn’t really planning on growing more but I had some spare grain and plates that were knotting up and here I am, well impressed (:
